Here in south east Va there are very few options if you dont own property and want to shoot more than 100 yards. Recently a public range was sold to a private company. This company politely excluded the public for about 3 years now. Sudenly they have started advertising to the public. To use the 200-300 yard yange you must qualify at 100 yards to move on to the longer ranges. I can understand this as trajectory of bullets at 300 yards could hit the over head barriers and cause damage. However what I can not understand is $17.50 an hour to use the longer ranges. Seems a bit high to me. So what is the most you are willing to pay per hour to shoot?

$17.95 an hour
:what::eek::banghead:

I guess I am really spoiled. My club here in Wyoming has a wonderful outdoor range out to 1000 yards with setups for any discipline you might want, nice indoor range also, $50.00 a year if you dont work, $25.00 if you do work.

The range is Yuma is open to the public with no fees whatsoever.

As far as I know, there arent any really nice ranges. The few I have experience with, one is like 13 an hour for an indoor, 25 yd max range and the other are $100 a year and you get the combo to the lock type.

Ok aparently the fees changed since I last checked, or maybe I just misquoted them. Here are the fees.
Daily Rates by the Hour:
7 yard - 15 yard - 25 yard - 50 yard - 100 yard ranges: $12.50 per hour (1 hour minimum)
100 zero confirmation - 200 yard - 300 yard ranges: $17.50 per hour (1 hour minimum)

This is a far cry from what the range use to be but the facilities are really good and maybe it is worth it. http://www.thec2center.com/index.html

I do most of my shooting in the back yard or I can go to the gun club it is $40.00 per year.

If I had no other choice then I guess I would pay whatever I had to.

But given the choice -- and I am, where I live -- I won't go to any range that charges by the hour. Having the "meter running" is a distraction I can do without.

I have read that us city slickers often have more/better shooting opportunities than do our more rural compatriots, as odd as it sounds. There are a half dozen or so indoor ranges within an hour of my home, and several rifle ranges as well. Most of them charge around $15-$20 for a day of shooting, including one with steel targets out to 700 yards.

There's a decent range around here that charges $10 per gun, all day long.

The owner is kind of a weirdo, but he keeps the range safe.

It is in, however, less than ideal shape.

There's an indoor range at a gunshop in town called the Sharpshooter, but last time I was there, they charged $15 an hour for the first shooter, and for up to three additional shooters on that lane it's $7.50 each.

That place is kind of a rip off, and is always full of nincompoops and losers shooting their Glocks sideways.

My local range charges $20/yr membership then $10/DAY in range fees. This is for pistol, shotgun/trap, and rifle up to 300 yds. For that daily fee you can move freely between all ranges. This is a fair price to me.

Yea, thank god for western states. Here in Wyoming, we have 3 private/public ranges. In my town/city. 1 of them is just an indoor range. Plus, all the public land you want to shoot on; and your own private land out of city limits. I said private/public because they are private, but anyone is allowed to be a member. And for those who only want to hunt, they allow certain days of the year where they charge non-members Per-Gun for sighting in rifles. But the normal price is $90 a YEAR if you aren't an NRA MEMBER; and $45 a year if you ARE AN NRA MEMBER. If I only went 1 time a month, that would be $7.50 a month. Non of this "Per-Hour" Crap.

...thank god for western states,
In this eastern state my club, Copicut Rifle Assoc., just went up from $35 to $50 a year, shooting 365 days a year, 8-5. 100, 200, 300 yd. rifle, and separate 50 yd. pistol. No other fees, but must belong to NRA and Mass GOAL.

And if they doubled the fee I'd still be happy.

I selected the 6.00 per hour because it doesn't give you the option for all day, and that's what it costs for members.
Forgot: My membership is 100.00 per yr. But I don't actually pay for it. I get to be the RSO on weekends and all the brass I can use.

for all the years i have been a member, even with some rather large recent assesments, $1/hr is average for 100 yard outside and 25 inside.

I belong to the F.O.P. Range in Pleasant Grove, AL. Dues are $125 per year and I can shoot seven days per week, whenever the range is open, at no additional cost. We have a nice public range, in addition to the seven member ranges. If you're ever in Birmingham and want to shoot, come on out.

I voted "$16 and up per hour" because if I didn't have access to a range at a lower cost (or free), I'd be willing to pay more to shoot. If the only option I had was $16 per hour to shoot, then I'd pay it. I just wouldn't be able to go as often. Better to shoot an hour or two per month than not at all.

Ranges are far and few around here. There are only two that are within a one hour drive. One charges $25.00 per 1 1/2 hours, the other charges $25.00 for all day. The maximum time I can shoot comfortably is 1 hour, so I usually go to the first choice, because it's closer to my home and a much better neighborhood.

There is one outdoor range I shoot at every once in awhile, but that's a two hour drive, one way.

i'll pay pretty well for a well-maintained range that goes in excess of 1000 yards. for a run of the mill 100 yard range, or less, i'm not paying.

I have a public out door range with 15 rifle stations, 20 pistol stations, shot gun patterning station, and separate skeet and trap facilities with a charge of $3 per hour for each including targets and 25 clays for skeet or trap. No membership fee's. Pistol is up to 100 feet and rfle is 250 i think.

The local indoor range is 15.00/hr.

The local ranges are gouging, plus you have to buy your ammo there (also gouged) so no thanks.

I either go to the mountains, or out to a little known but well maintained outdoor range that charges $5/day on the honor code.
