One Plastic Better????

That's Comical, I'm not talking about the plastic Frame as there both polymer Mr Oreilly.
The XD is Safer and If you ever looked at one you would know that.
The XD has trigger safety + Grip Safety + Loaded Chamber indicator + Fully Cocked Striker Indicator.
The Glock Has a Trigger safety Only. (Reports of Several People Getting Glocked, Holstering there Weapon)
Now Put away Your Tainted Koolaid and Post on The Glock Fanboy Troll sight with the rest of the only ever owned a glock Trolls.

As for the finish The XD finish is Springfield's Finish Now. (proven to Last 4ever) and if it ever did come off Springfield will refinish 4 FREE.
As For Better Built its all listed in the previous post.
Go Ahead Troll Name a single Part Better on a Glock, Your Post is Laughable.
Can You Glock Trolls Say LIFETIME WARRANTY ! I thought Not.

My chevys better than yer Ford.

If anyone honestly thinks there are major differences in a Glock and an XD (at least anything worth getting upset about...:uhoh:) they are very inexperienced and limited in the firearms arena..

CT Ill Agree with You There as My Ford is a Pile of S#@t.
Wish I would have Stayed with My Ole Chevy.

And I Agree with the Minor Differences .
All I wanted to convey is That The XD is an Improved Glock, Nothing More.

I prefer my XD9 because it fits my hand very well and it has been flawless since I have had it. I almost went Glock but the grip was just a little too large for me. I also like the added grip safety of the XD9.

i have owned glock, but i now on xd and 2 of them to be exact they are great guns and they fit me perfect. i have a sc that is great for wam weather, and the service model, i carry both about the same amount of time through out the year, i have put many many more rds through the servioce model 4 times as much as a matter of fact but they keep on going bang, plus sa has a great customer service and will take care of the customer.

3 and a half year old thread, but still makes for an interesting discussion :) The glock vs. XD debate will go on for years more, along with the M&P. I've shot both the XD9 in a 4" service model as well as the Glock 19. Personally, I enjoyed shooting the XD9 more. Both guns shot well, but the finger grooves on the Glock just wasn't ergonomically friendly for my hands. Aesthetically, I like the XD more as well. I plan to purchase one in the short term, used probably. Local gun shop is asking $400 for a used XD9 service model. Is that a fair price? Keep in mind I'm in California where the prices seem just seem a tad higher.... and thanks to state laws you magically get less rds in your magazine as well.

G-19 has a proven track record, less moving parts, and is reliable. Don't get me wrong, I like the ergos on the XD, but when uit comes to a professional weapon, the GLOCK winds hands down. maybe if and when the XD proves itself. I have heard that you have to box it up and send it back if it breask, GLOCK will send you the parts if you need them. Less turnaround time.

Own both. (And a S&W)
Thought XD was nothing more than a S&W Sigma-style glock ripoff.

Then I shot one...
Fits my hand better.
Feels better.
Magazines are way nicer.
Takedown is one lever like a sig. (not the glock two-finger thingie)

Both have their place. I have sold nearly all my Glocks.
It got me to like plastic fantastics enough I bought an S&W & an XD.
Not bad guns. Each has their pluses and minuses.
As I said, I sold most of my Glocks...
However, I am replacing them with Sigs and not plastic fantastics.

You should of put up a poll. Glock would of won.

I agree, also uses a poll. People are more apt to click and vote then comment. Especially when a topic as been beat to death.

My time with glock, XD and S&W:

I shot a friend's 34 and I was putting whole magazines through one 2 inch hole at 7 yards. I had to have one of my own after that.

I've rented allot of pistols at the SGC to get some personal experience and the glocks, while not fun to hold at the counter, were more comfortable for me to shoot:

-G26 had less felt recoil than the S&W M&P9C. It seemed strange to me as the S&W was so much more comfortable to hold.

-G23 had less felt recoil than the 40 Sigma and the XD in 40, both of which felt better in the hand.
(That said the M&P 40 full size was the best of the 40s in felt recoil, shooting comfort, and trigger)

They are reliable and easy to repair:

-The glocks were also rented more that most of the other pistols, the new shooters want to shoot that famous glock nyne or forty.

-The gun that I saw in the rental case more than any other was glocks, they were rarely out for service.

-Most of the repairs can be made on site and parts are cheap. My friend with the 34 can rebuild an entire gun at home with a few simple tools.

My conclusions:

-All were acceptably accurate and reliable with 100rnds of magtech.

-I didn’t like the XD’s mostly for their high bore axis, it tended to flip up a little more than the others.

-I like the S&W M&P for a full size and the glock for the sub compacts.

-The glocks are cheap and easy to fix when needed.

-The glock is the easiest gun to keep clean that I own.

Most of the above is MHO but this is the absolute truth: If you want the best gun for you, SHOOT FIRST and BUY LATER.
-A gun that feels great in the hand is not always a gun that feels great to shoot.

P.S.

-My 34 has a loaded chamber indicator integral to the extractor.
-I know when the striker is cocked by the fact that the trigger is forward.
