Trigger pull of a Springfield XD vs. Glock vs. 1911?

I own a Springfield XD-9 and was wondering what the trigger pull on an XD feels like compared to a Glock, and a 1911? I've handled a Glock before, but not fired it so I don't know what the trigger feels like really (because you don't put your finger inside the guard until it's ready to fire!). From what I've heard, a Springfield XD is single action, Glock is double-action only, and 1911 is single action? Is that correct?

Glock is pseudo-DA, since it also partially cocks the firing pin, but if you get a light strike, you have to rack the slide to reset the pin, no pulling a second time to make it go boom. Feel wise, I can't say about how it is vs and XD but versus a 1911, it seems to me just a touch longer, but its fairly light and when shooting it, I didn't even really notice an applicable difference. Then again this was back in my P95 days, talk about heavy and gritty triggers, everything else at the time seemed light as a feather and smooth as ice.

Hmm... ok. I'll try my best

Springfield XD, Glock, and 1911

Like sticking your finger through a tub of jello, rubbing two bricks together while driving down a dirt road, a glass rod breaking

Different trigger systems, can't compare a "plastic" gun to that of a M1911.

The triggers on my M1911's are set to 4lbs and have a travel of less-than 1/4" to fire, it is the proverbial "breaking glass rod" feeling. Much different than the length of travel for Glock or Springfield.

Both my G23 and SA 1911, have better triggers than my XD9, had. Nothing beats a good 1911 trigger.:D

1911 > Glock > XD

Generally speaking, its hard to compare the 1911 to the others, as another already mentioned the 1911 is a break glass very consistent and precise trigger pull.

IMO the Glock is a little "mushy", but I like the very short reset. While the XD was a little more crisp, I didn't care for the long reset, you just about have to let the trigger out all the way before the next shot which ends up being quite a long pull.

Sort of. Racking the slide partially cock's the Glock. Pulling the trigger takes it the rest of the way. Neither single nor double action.

Practically it's the same as the XD.

IMO, High Desert nailed it.

I like the XD's so the trigger doesn't bug me. The reset is longer than the Glock. I prefer XDs over the Glock for my own peculiarities in ergonomic enjoyment, not anything wrong with Glocks or XDs.

But, like everyone will tell you, a properly tuned 1911 trigger is what other triggers aspire to be and are often measured against.

With that said, there are individual reasons for liking or trusting different trigger pulls one over another per specific pistol and its various uses.

what about dry fire drills?
anyway i have been able to overcome any trigger i have ever used, the glocks aren't bad and made even better with the 3.5# it still feels wierd but better.

i love the xd trigger and with time they get better and better.

my 1911 sa mc operator has a nice trigger not the best that i have seen on a 1911 but really nice.
