LaPierre ducked out of GRPC because of HR2640 heat...

Additional to what Henry Bowman said, "backslapping" seems to miss the mark completely when describing the honest reactions of people whose nature leads them to repudiate such tactics.

I know that not everyone in this thread likes or completely agrees with Wayne LaPierre. But whether or not they like or agree with him most of the people here seem to despise what's being done against him. And I think they'd despise it no matter who was the target.

It's okay to be a decent person and a gun owner too. It's not a compromise.

The point of the OP was his allegation that LaPierre "ducked out" of a head-to-head confrontation over HR2640. The point of "I was there" is that the OP was not there, but is willing to make up or perpetuate false stories to make a personal attack against LaPierre rather than against the NRA position on the merits.

Larry Pratt and the GOA lying in yet another attempt to smear the NRA? Say it ain't so!

Rumble,
Thanks I printed it out. I'll read it a couple of times before I comment.
Harry, Thanks for the clarification.

Dave Workman, my conclusion after comparing how Gun Owners of America represented the bill with the bill itself is that Gun Owners of America flatly misrepresented the bill. Who, possessed of even a rudimentary ability to read, could come to any other conclusion.

Gun Owners of America and its satellites obviously are more interested in attacking and weakening the NRA than they are in helping me to own and enjoy my firearms. Their enemy is Wayne LaPierre, not Sarah Brady, Carolyn McCarthy, Charles Schumer, George Soros, Ted Kennedy, Michael Bloomberg, C. Ray Nagin, Richard Daley, Adrian Fenty, or any other opponent of Second Amendment rights in this country.

Shame on GOA and its satellites such as this "NRAwol." They don't represent me and I don't want to be associated with people like that.

If Gun Owners of America ever had a constructive function in supporting the Second Amendment and firearms owners it has lost its way. It now is rivalry gone awry.

That's why I dropped my GOA membership. Is the NRA perfect ?? No. But they are the 800 lb Gorilla in Congress. As an NRA member my voice gets heard by Wayne, Chris etc. They HAVE to answer to the membership. GOA and it's satellite organizations don't, they just scream "THE NRA IS BAD, SEND US MONEY TO FIGHT THEM." Sarah Brady, Paul Helmke et al. just sit back and smile as we do their work for them.

We need less infighting and more cooperation. Just look at what the WGO has done in Wisconsin to defeat Concealed Carry, just so one man (Executive Director) can continue to line his pockets and ride the gravy train.

Scout26, good post.

The WGO + "Executive Director" situation you refer appears to be quite similar to what we in CA have to put up with with our GOC & its leader, Sam Paredes.

At this point in CA we're getting more damage done to us by GOC (esp in combo with CRPA) than by the Bradys. NRA had quite a bit of stuff stiched up nicely - in the face of apparently insurmountable odds - and the GOC/Sam Paredes screw the pooch for a petty personal payback game apparently designed to show relevance.
