Charles Daly Wants to Hear From You!

No Mr. Kassnar, NOT sarcastic, just stupid! I thought you brought in Dan Wesson! Any way I do have a pile of your father's and your (I believe ) guns. The Feg line of M-85 (2), a "Russian" SKS, Feg Hi Powers (2) and an RK-59 and PA63. A couple Bernadelli marked Kassnar and a few others. Really the Kassnar and KBI stuff always attracted me because they general were unique smaller manufacturers when you brought them in.Were you involved in 'Whitworth' or was that interarms?

Sent you guys a PM but never heard back

I'm looking to buy a BHP from CD but heard nasty rumors that it may be in the process of being discontinued? Is this true? I kind of doubt it as I heard it at a gunshop.

Nevertheless i'm saddened to see that more manufacturers haven't picked up this platform. I acutally like it much better than the 1911 and wish more manufacturers would pick up the BHP. I would love to see someone make it in SS or hard chrome. If I can get a CD I will likely get it sent of to be refinished as it only comes in blue.

Just got home from a distributor's show in South Carolina. I will catch up with my replies tomorrow evening after a big day back in the office.

This is all good (pros and cons and suggetions). Keep 'en coming!

I spoke with Mr. Kassnar at the Ellett's show on Saturday; he seemed quite sincere about turning his service department, and its reputation, around.

Mr. Michael Kassnar,

I own a Charles Daly Field Hunter VR-M 12ga, that I bought from a local wal-mart. I have in the past (when e-mail was an option), e-mailed your service department numerous times to see if there was a way to factory modify the shotgun so that the bolt release button would not have to be depressed to load shells into the mag tube. I have never received a response back. Requiring an opertator to push this button down to load more ammo delays reloading time, and when you're in the field seconds do matter. Sometimes when I am pheasant hunting I may only come up on 1 group of birds. If I shoot my 3 rounds I am often looking at the remaining birds flushing away and my day is done. I have resorted back to using my O/U because I can reload it faster than my Charles daly.
Other than that I am satisfied with my firearm. It is a good value gun for the price, but to me it just needs that 1 minor improvement. I have rarely had jamming occur, which is also surprising considering the price. Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to stop be here, and hopefully read this.

I know that because of your interest in your customers desires I will be very favorably inclined to purchase one of your products in the future.
Thanks for listening.

Mr Kassner,

Good on you for reaching out like this. The name Charles Daly will no longer give me a feeling of uncertainty. I hate to just tell you my wishlist, but it can't hurt to ask. What's the possibility of getting permission to manufacture parts for an OC-14 Groza bullpup AK? Maybe you could build whole, semi-auto rifles, or use them to rebuild Saigas, or sell them as parts kits. I've considered the AK-building hobby and am aware that builders are afraid of losing suppliers of kits.

My KBI imported SA-85 was about my most favorite rifle ever. I loved the blond wood, and the quality was tops. I always wished I would have picked up an underfolder before they were banned. :(

Was at my club today...

There was a guy in there who was getting ready to send a Kimber back for the third time - Seems it doesn't really want to go into battery quite a bit. Looking at it, I'm wondering about the recoil spring (seemed a little light) coupled with maybe a tight chamber/throat... Plus, it felt a little odd going into lockup...

I suggested he look into a CD for a carry gun.

Got the strangest look.

One more question....

Are your 1911s built to standard specifications? As in, barrels/bushings, grips, etc. drop in with only minor fitting? (I know things like triggers, safeties, ignition parts require more, no matter the brand)

The only alteration I would probably make to one of your EFS 1911s is the addistion of a magwell/MSH combo. If it is something that would drop in with some minor blending.

From the FAQ on the Daly website.

Are the parts in my 1911 interchangeable?

Steel frame EFS models manufactured after March 2002 are 100% interchangeable with Colt. Models previous to this date are roughly 98% interchangeable. Many of the components for our EMS and ECS models are interchangeable however many other manufacturers produce mid-size and compact models in different ways.

Our Polymer frame M-5 Government model is a wide body 1911 platform which uses standard 1911 parts with the exception of the trigger, mag catch, grip safety and mainspring housing.

I just wanted to add, that if you can import a decent M1 Garand at a reasonable price, as you hinted, it would be awesome, and I for one would be in line to buy one. A M1a-m14 at sub-springfield prices would also be very interesting.

A M1a-m14 at sub-springfield prices would also be very interesting.

I second that. The Norinco models are few and far between to say the least (I don't think I've ever even seen one), and Springfield's offerings are just a little too heavy on the wallet. Something that doesn't break a grand would be nice; in that price range I could actually see saving up and buying one, assuming, of course, that its quality would demand such a price.

By the way, I'm with the rest of the folks who have lauded your efforts in coming here and seeking out information and opinions from us. It's an admirable thing to do and I hope you keep it up.

Michael -- thanks for "appearing" here for us.

I have three CDs -- all purchased new, (which is a rare thing for me) The Superior II Field .22 BA rifle (awsome little gun), the 20 ga, semi-auto field (lightest 20 ga I've found, for old farts like me that grouse hunt) and a .45 ACP field grade 1911 ECS.

The only issue is with the 1911 -- same thing as Skunky mentioned -- It is the most accurate centerfire pistol I own. The accuracy is amazing! I have shot several full-clip, one-hole groups... I don't consider myself great, but this gun rules!

However... There is that one problem, though. It drops the groups two feet at that 20 yard distance. I was going to file the front sight down, but after seeing that it didn't work for the other guy, I'm not going to do it either...

The only other issue is that it will not feed 100% reliably with anything other than hardball. That is not a big deal, but using some wadcutters, etc would be nice.

What's your thoughts on the aiming point. Feel free to reply to my email at [email protected], if there's a convenient solution...

Thank you and looking forward to your AR15s...

Not sure what sort of input you want in this thread, but just throwing this one out to you since this seems to be a catchall thread:

Looked at the web site, then under nearby dealers and found one that is no longer around:

Hi Mr. Kassner, I'm wondering if Charles Daly might have any parts available that are compatible with the Zastava CZ99? It seems that you are
selling/ have sold, a version of that pistol...thanks

A friend of mine has a 28 guage auto loader Charles Daly. A part broke in the bolt. Charles Daly repaired it at no charge and paid all shipping.

He is well pleased with the service he got.
