A bit of this and that

A Gerber Silver Knight (2½" blade) since 1982.

A Leatherman since 2002, first the Supertool, then changed to the Wave last year.

A Kershaw Leek since early 2006 when it became clear I needed a one-handed cutter that I can snap open while wearing gloves.

Two Fisher space pens.

Pocket magnifier (Fresnel lens).

Fob-style mini-screwdriver for eyeglasses on my keychain.

Some kind of LED flashlight in a pocket or bag of some kind.

Cell phone. (Recently saw a low-end laptop computer on sale for less than my darned phone cost.)

The usual wallet & keys. Plus a duplicate of every car key on a separate ring.

In the car, there's a whole assortment of useful stuff. Pretty much beyond the scope of this discussion, but I'm never far from an axe or machete.

CRKT Cruiser, best folder ever... Works better with wet hands than any other grip I've felt. Also a cell phone, lighter, baton, and IWB throwing knife but I know my folder will do the job. By far it's the best one I've ever handled. If I could get a hold of the CRKT Hissatsu I'd wear that too.

Items I have EDC at times.

alwilliam is that an JJ dog leash you have cut down in one of the photos? if so whats the reason?

MORE of a dog leash holder with LESS OF A KNUCKLE DUSTER LOOK but retains the same impact effect.

Al, I love your collection but I see lots of things that could get you in heaps of trouble if you got caught.. I know, don't get caught, righto. But generally it's not regarded as High Road to hit 'n run....:)

On the streets I carry:
Wallet (left rear)
Maglite 2AA/surefire e2D (left front)
Kershaw Leek/Kershaw Blur/ any one of a dozen misc brand knives (right front)
Chapstick (almost more important than a gun when you're this good lookin)
Keys, sometimes bandana (right rear)
Kel-Tec P11 (which I would bet my life on thanks) IWB, no extra mags

At work all I get to carry is a ball-point pen, 2AA maglite or a penlight and the assurance that it's OK to lock yourself in a closet so long as you dial '66' for emergency operator first!

Thanks to BIG Al....and FYI Im thinking that seecamp is NOT AOW regulated with that particular wallet holster since the Slide of gun protrudes ABOVE the wallet itself and does NOT seat within it fully. just a guess:cool:

Seecamp holster is NOT a AOW....Russ is right on.

If I get "caught" then I messed up on my job and much worse IMO... I will have screwed up my personal goals for non-telegraphing of any EDC item . A very small Part of my job is the testing of secure check points.

I used to carry a Gerber quick opening knife with a black teflon coated serrated blade, and a footshaped Hooters bottle opening keychain. I started carrying a Benchmade Griptillian MDP and gave my Gerber to my brother. I lost my Hooters keychain which really sucks, you ever try to open a beer on the road while driving with a pair of pliars. Whenever I am out in the bush I carry my RIA 1911A1 Tactical in case my primary is not suited for the task at hand.

Al likes me collects weapons becasue he likes them in addition to having an example of things you are likely to encounter in the street.

Nice Jaw Jackers Al:)

Please dont get the wrong idea..I am a :D goofball but not insane...I carry some items for the testing of checkpoints only.

I rely on a holster by Lou Alessi ,glock 27,180gr ranger t and a surefire or fenix for all serious work...end of story.

As far a dusters....The jaw jacker types come from jeff at http://alphainnovationsllc.com/default.aspx

Most others I make.......

tit for tat

Giving back exactly what one receives: “If you hit me, I’ll do the same to you; it’s tit for tat.”

Humm...
Interesting collection.

Mentor took apart a BHP and tossed parts hither-n-yon, removed the 22 karat curb link chain from around his neck, and removed 5 small links, as the links were not soldered shut on purpose.
The balance of his neck chain, he placed around the neck of a Nun that worked in a Missionary, that attended to children with no parents, or not knowing the whereabouts or fate of parents due to a living hell going on - called Vietnam.
Nun put the chain under her Nun's attire, and then kissed her cross and she was ready to continue.

Mentor slipped his small 2 5/8" Hen & Rooster pen knife into a pocket of the peasant attire he was dressed in - he appeared to be a peasant that worked the rice paddy's - the one that feed those that were his enemy, enemy of his brothers and sisters wearing uniforms and those back home in the USA.

Ox drawn wagon continued to the checkpoint, there was medicine in the black market for the children, and arranged safe passage for my Mentor.
Nun exchanged words with the armed persons at the checkpoint, they glanced at the peasant worker [Mentor] and could see the blood seeping through the cloth bandages.

This matched the sharing how a the peasant had injured himself using a tool in the paddy's.
Two, then three pcs of 22 karat curb link chain were placed into the hand of the person in charge, and the ox-cart continued.

Safe passage for a mentor, the Nun, and medicine secured on the black market with the rest of the chain.
Word later - safe passage was afforded back across for the Nun and the medicine.
Mentor was not injured, just blood from a small animal and cloth bandages gave the perception needed.

Humm...
Just thinking about the Mentors and what used on the streets here in the USA as well...
No cell phones back then, no 911, no brass knuckles used , newspaper knives were, as were "dollar pocket watches" and and 19 cent screwdrivers and ...

Just me, I sorta miss the OTASCO, and Western Auto screwdrivers I used to get for street use...
Damn impossible to find a $2 drug store cane now-a-days...
Hen & Rooster wants $39 for knife like back when , and gold is over $800 an ounce, and street folks doing the same stuff in 1980 when gold went over $800 an ounce.
I know, oh how well indeed I know.

It was only $200,000 of gold coins in rolls, that needed to be picked up and delivered.
Street Thugs waved, said hi, I went on by.
Wise investment that was the "stolen" whiskey and cartons of cigarettes I had done earlier...

Oh the armored car? That was a decoy, I was primary - working solo again.
Never owned a jaw jacker, Sears Roebuck screwdrivers yes, Jaw Jacker no.

Looking back I coulda been "kilt"...I only carried very little fashioned equipment that day...

Hardest thing we had with cops doing undercover - getting them to blend in and not look or act like cops.

Holds true today.

Anyone today still use library cards or parking passes for defensive tools?
I guess not, them worked really well!

*wink*

At work, I carry an Old Timer lock back, about 3" long, and a S&W 64-3 38 special, just in case.

Off duty, the same Old Timer and a Glock 23 stoked with Gold Dots and a J frame BUG, with Glasers.

At home, a S&W 1076 10mm, stoked with the evil (according to the Brady Bunch) Black Talons.

I carry something i made myself...I only carry it cuz i live in a rough neighborhood and i only use it for protection. Its a small blade that i slipped into a hollowed out pen.

I emjoy making weapons of my own design if i didnt id be carrying a swiss knife

I have designed and built some very odd covert weapons in the past 30 years and it can be a fun hobby but IMO..If I had only your 2 choices I would Go with the sak and leave the hidden blade at home.
