I am a Wal-Mart store manager Questions?

Oh, and I found the same gun at a local gun shop a couple days later. It cost more than at Wal-Mart, but they let me put it on layaway, so they got the sale. If it wasn't for layaway, I wouldn't be able to afford many guns.

Just a thought, but would it not be better to create a "gun fund" using an interest bearing savings account rather than layaway?

Good grief. Give the poor guy a chance for Pete's sake. It's not like answering questions on THR is all he has to do. Unlike most of us, he may actually have a life.

Steve is the one who stated, on page 4, that he had sent PMs to all previous questions. I asked a question on page 3 that didn't receive any answer.

Sistema1927 -- I think *I* can answer your questions from page 3. It's because the register tells them to ask those questions. Whether the cashier recognizes the causal link between how you answer and what age you must be is an exercise left for the reader. And there's no "both" option on the register... "handgun" is the more legally restricted case, so answer that and quit worrying about it.

Thanks for the PM response. IIRC Wal Marts in my area do not layaway anithing anymore.

The whole problem is the fact that a majority of WM employees don't exercise any common sense. The whole reason why they have the "Rifle vs. Handgun" question is to determine whether they can sell to someone 18 or 21. If they don't know what the questions mean, then Wal-Mart needs to give THEM more training, not me. Also, think about how stupid this question really is. Do you think that 18 year olds don't already know that answering "Rifle" will get them a box of ammo, while "handgun" will get them denied?

Since I am on the far side of 50, why don't THEY just punch in an answer, any answer, and quit wasting my time? (Some, but very few, employees actually do this, and don't ask me the inane question.)

Since they insist on asking, I tell them the truth. They can then punch whatever silly button on their register that they want. To argue with me, insisting that I have to tell them one or the other, is a sign of gross stupidity.

BTW, I did finally receive a PM from steve, thanks.

Does anyone excercise their Constitutional right to shop elsewhere?

I do! I have never bought a single thing at walmart, not one!

now, I might not always be able to buy american, but I never, ever, buy from walmart and I never, ever buy 'organic'

So the guy at the WM counter asked me if I was 21 when I was buying some 9mm Saturday. Looked at him and said, "Wish I still was...." His reply, "Hell no, not me. I don't want to have to do it all over again!"

Mgr Walmart

You said that they decided that only 33% of your stores will carry firearms. Where?

I just bought ammo at Walmart today. A box of 40 caliber for a 100 rounds was about $26. Last year this time, I bought the same box for about $20. Did the price go up and why? I believe shotgun shells went up too right?

More training = higher prices. Those low prices come at the expense of a well-trained sales staff.

Case law has found that the retailer isn't liable for damages if they have reason to believe the ammunition is for a long gun and that by asking the buyer they establish their reason to believe. It's about Wal-Mart not getting sued. Again, the price you pay for low prices.

Ammo prices have been going up everywhere for a couple of years now. There are a few dozen threads on that already.

I have tried to answer most of the questions on here, and have got a lot of "attaboy's" from ya'll, and I appreciate it. I am asking that the thread be shut down. I have very little time anymore, as I am right in the middle of a 4 wall expansion at work. I will see you on the other threads!
