Hey. Few questions. ---- This is about a daisy break air rifle

Is it possible this gun be able to penetrate to the inside of the rib cage?

Also...

Do you think if shot at the palm of someones hand from about 50ft that it would fully penetrate through the hand to the other side?

Thanks.

You didn't say what the power/ft per second level was. But, yes and yes. A decently powered break barrel springer can (and has) caused death by penetrating the heart. Same goes for the hand, especially if the pellet passes between the carpal bones of the palm. I have a 15 ft-lb springer/break barrel that will shoot through a squirrel long wise from head to ass. I have a hard hitting .22 (RWS M54) springer/side cocker that killed an armadillo. Shot completely through it broadside. These "toys" can have some serious power.

Why do you ask? Planning a clandestine hit or something?

I got shot with a pumpmaster 760 in the ribs. It was not pleasant, but it did not penetrate. ymmv

I do not see how a soft lead pellet, can penetrate a person wearing any clothes at all. I could see the hand , witin 10 ft.

:scrutiny:

When I was a kid, I had one of Daisy's cheaper airguns, one of the ten pump models that struggled to push 750 fps or so. Pellets out of that thing, at a distance of ten yards, went through 1/4 inch plywood without a problem.

Not really answering your question... but if you're looking into buying that gun (Daisy Powerline 1000), Cabela's sells refurbished ones for $70 in a complete kit with scope. Incredible deal.

I have a Chinese B-18 that will penetrate 2 soda cans full of water at 30 yards, with flat-nosed pellets.

I would say the hand definitely, the ribs would depend.

Bullets are often made out of soft lead...

my gamo shadow will definately penetrate its fair share of flesh. they are essentially the same rifle, just different names stamped onto the side.

You most have very limited or no experience with spring piston air-rifles!

I just shot the back out of a steel .22 bullet trap with my two Beemans. Course it took a lot of shooting, but still!

My 750 FPS R-7 will shoot through 1/4" plywood at 30 yards.

My 750 FPS C-1 will split open a 1-liter pop bottle full of water.

A human rib might stop it.
But if it hit between the ribs, I can assure you that a Surgeon will be taking the pellet out of your chest.

If I can shoot clean through an ARMADILLO at 15 yds, you can be damned sure it will cause penetration and potentially deadly results on a human. There's always the brain shot through the eye, too.

pellet penetration

1000 fps is approx. the same speed as a .22 rimfire. Whether it is propelled by air or explosion does not matter. Draw your own conclusions.

You also have to consider that a .22 bullet weighs a lot more than a 15-20 gr pellet so it's going to have much more energy.
