OK, not what you would expect on THR, but I figure someone will know.

I have a Daisy M853 Air Rifle. The rifle uses the Daisy 5899 Receiver Sight (rear sight).

The sights on this thing leave a lot to be desired. The rear sight is a simple round aperture with no horizontal or vertical markings or cross hairs. The front sight also is a simple circle, although there is one post insert available. So your sighting picture is a circle within a circle (no post), or a small post within a large circle.

I'm looking for replacement sights with a different sighting picture. Even open iron style sights would be an improvement. In the alternative, I'll probably glue verticle and/or horizontal wires (cross hairs) to one of the sights.

Does anyone have experience with a fix or know if better sights are made for the Daisy M853?

Thanks.

Aperature sights don't have cross hairs. Your eye naturally centers on the peep hole and you will put the post right in the middle. If you are looking for new sights check out Williams or Lyman. Most likely you will have to figure out how to mount on your gun.
