I didn't know how expensive .45 ammo has gotten! I could have sworn last year it was $16/box for WWB if I'm not mistaken? Now I see it going around for $21/box. Do you think after the war is over ammo costs will decrease?

Gas won't go down in price until people stop driving, and Americans are determined to drive come hell or high water. The same thing with shooting. And to be fair, it's not that the prices are going up, it's that the value of the dollar is dropping. The Federal Reserve keeps cranking up the printing presses, and we're paying taxes on the difference between what the dollar was worth last year and what it's worth this year. So, really, ammo probably isn't going up in price at all. It's just that with more dollars flooding the economy, your dollars are worth less.

In short, don't worry about it. Buy the ammo and don't look back. Things are not going to get any better. Once banks start failing in this country, you're going to look back on these days as the "good times."

He just told us why... They keep printing so the more there is the less value it holds. It's not like the good old days well before the automobile when the coin was still used as in... Gold coins for currency, and I mean the real deal. not the sakajuwya $#!T they have out there now-a-days. those were the day when getting somethings price is in it's weight in gold meant something.

Our currency now-a-days is based on a believe system, the world believes the American dollar is worth something and that's why it has what lil value it still does. The price of everything in this country isn't going up our currency's belief system is falling apart. Oil doesn't cost so much because on damn refinery was demolished BFS!!! It's because some darn friggin green happy politics are making it that way to line there pockets for the envitable stock crash.

Anyways enough about me going off like a loaded .45 pointed at a BG that just shot up your house.

I still buy my .45 ammo at under $20 a box-o-50rds, but then again I do live in New Hamshire where there's no sales tax on stuff like that.

The reason the $ is going down? The fact that this administration is spending money it doesn't have, it's not collecting (from taxes), and just printing more to make up for it...

Just hope China doesn't come forward anytime soon asking for us to repay the debt they have bought...

End of WAR, gas coming down, dollars worth going up..

...

Not in this lifetime..

Unlike here in Komifornia, you pay the Sales Tax, first and foremost on anything, and everything, up front with both the Feds hand out and the States hand, out first, with our worthless dollar bills that the Government, in their "ongoing brilliance" of taking care of the peoples business, saw fit to take out the ~ Payable in Silver upon Demand of Bearer ~ IIRC printed on what were once called "Silver (Paper) Certificates".. Now it's just what it is, a bunch of new and old, paper..

Glad I can get by and stay current with either of my 45's once week, or twice a month with 50 rounds, to stay current..

I wonder if they would laugh me out of the range if I show up with a B-B gun?

WWB is about $29.95 per box of 100 at WalMart.
I bought a bunch of Blazer Brass when it was $9.68 per 50 at WalMart which was up until about 2 months ago. I believe it's now about $14.95.

I'm kicking myself right now for not doing the same. Blazer Brass was $9.47 for 50 here 'till a couple of months ago. I wish I had bought a few cases. Like the ol' timers say, "buy it cheap and stack it deep."

More likely gas prices won't come down until people/government gets off the being controlled by the environmentalist lobby crap and we return to tapping our own resources and building new refineries.

But that might constipate a caribou, so no such likelihood in the present day political climate.

Problem with that is that even if we startup our own refineries and increase our own resources, all that oil is still controlled by OPEC.

Out of Ignorance, who is OPEC?
Everyone makes the Presidents of Oil and Gas Companies the evilist things, is OPEC the same?

Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries.
Saudia Arabia, Iran, Iraq, Angola, Argentina (I think), Venezuela... several others. They control about 1/3 of the world's oil production.

Aw crap.

I spend $4.10 per 50-round box for .45 ammo. You telling me the price is going up? Aw, crap!

By the end of the year I'll be paying $5 a box?

To those of us who roll our own - who cares what wwb sells for?

Reloading is not only an investment, it is an education. I pay $30 for a 1,000 primers, $25 for enough powder to load 1,500 rounds and somewhere between 0 and 2.5 cents for each bullet.

Reckon I need to visit Wal-Mart and find out how much my effort is worth...

.....just like EVERY administration in our lifetimes has.

I'm not saying there's no problem with that. There most certainly is.

Just saying that there's plenty of blame to go around, and no need to heap it exclusively on everybody's favorite whipping boy.

Bullets, dollars and rants.

Yep, ammo is going up. So is milk, bread, gas, clothes, and everything else you buy.

I roll my own, but also recently bought a case of Blazer Brass to set aside for a rainy day. I remember when .45acp was under a hundred for a case, I just paid over two with my "he spends lots of money here" discount at the local gunshop.

The price of everything is going up for two reasons. Demand for consumer goods (the crap we buy) is going up worldwide. that means manufacturers can charge more and we'll pay it. When we decide not to pay it, demand goes down and so do prices. Secondly, the dollar is beginning to devalue. The Federal Reserve (which is neither federal nor a reserve) issues more money than our current economy warrants. This lessens the value of each dollar. If only one of something exists, it's priceless. If everybody has one, it's worthless. Everybody has lots of money right now, so it's not worth much. Go tell your grandparents you just spent $5,000 on a high tech television. That's probably what they paid for their first HOUSE.

The price of ammo necessary to retain proficiency has pretty well curbed my enthusiasm for .45. :( There are an awful lot of very appealing guns for it, e.g., the M&P45, Kahr P and PM45, a good 1911, etc.
