I have owned my 19-2 for about two weeks now and have only shot it once but have already come to love it. 4inch blued pinned an recessed. Next will probably be a 19 snub...
Oh crap, doublesharp, those are two of my dream guns, both a pre-19 and a sweet nickel one, both in 4". I already have a 2.5" blue taken care of (photo below), as well as a 66 2.5" and a 686 2.5 and 4".
But hey, the real remarkable thing is those grips on your pre. Those are Rosewood plain targets? Now that is a rare grip. Honestly, they look thinner like someone cut-down some checkered targets? Either way, they really look like nice and ergonomic. PS - I'm a fellow Hoosier, originally. Just exiled right now.
I currently own one my father gave me. It was his duty weapon when he was on the Highway Patrol in 1968. It is a 4" with a target trigger and hammer and I recall him saying something about having a smith go over it for him. Absolutly the best shooting most accurate pistol in my collection.
The one I own is a Model 19-3 blued w/ 4" barrel.
The one at the gunshop I have on hold is a Model 19-6 blued w/ 2" barrel.
I still think the Model 19 is almost a must have gun, for any revolver fan.
I have a buddy who has a 4-inch, fully-engraved, nickled, pimp-gun that I would love to "inherit" from him. I think I'll keep my fingers crossed on that one...
