Guns with "character"

I got this Remington 700 BDL 30-06 brand new in 1971. The blueing is thin and alot of nicks and bangs. Each one of these is a story unto it's self. Still sports the Weaver K4 W I mounted on it 37 years ago.

French Mle 1873 ordnance revolvers,

First one from 1881, second one from 1882. Used in Colonial wars, WW1 and even WW2.

The one at the bottom of the picture was re-chambered for .45 ACP by a resistant.

Barman's Percussion pistol takes the cake.

All I've got with a lot of character is a Remington model 12CS. Chambered in .22WRF (AKA .22 Remington Special). Manufactured 1928. Came into my family by way of my great grandfather, then to my grandfather. Grandad's not sure where his dad got it, but we think it may've been collateral on a loan, as some others showed up that way. Dad grew up shooting it, and I've got it now.

It's Been around a long time. I've shot it a few times, but I've decided to retire it now. Someday it'll hang in a glass case with a few rounds of despicably-hard-to-find-ammo.

When it came to me, it hadn't been touched since the last time my dad cleaned it, over 30 years ago. Kinda rusty, and really nasty, but I've more or less brought it back.

Any idea of what happened to that pitted 1911?

I remember that thread jrou, it looked like something straight out of a movie. It's a shame he never followed through with documenting it's restoration if he even did restore it.

Great looking guns guys!

Last I heard, he needed a barrel to take to a Nevada shoot. Seemed the gun works, just wasn't fully restored from the pitting.

ETA: Here we go. Seems the gun worked at the shoot

MG42 - built in Berlin 1943, caried back to the US by a serviceman and registered in the 1968 amnesty. It is an uncut, non-rewelded, original C&R piece. I would suspect it saw service somewhere and its prior (German) owner didn't give it up willingly. I've got it currently configured as a mock MG3, with green Styer stock, MG3 feed tray, 308 barrel and booster.

THis is one that saw service in both WWI and WWII

jrou111...

What's the story behind that? Was this one that you got from a police auction that was risted up real good. I seem to recall a thread about a year ago with a 1911 that looke similar.

Jesse, Thanks for posting that to clear it up.

It's AJAX22's. And the pic I posted doesn't show the blood, only the pitting from it.

This 7mm Flobert has been in our family for 3 generations. Hasn't been fired since 1945, and I'm not going too shoot it.

I bought this Sporter in '84 when I was stationed in Ft Carson, Colorado. I opened up quite a few cans of whoop @ss with it during the deer seasons that this gun gladly tagged along on. It is still very accurate and had been meticulously accurized years ago by some unforknowned shop. Custom glass bedded stock, Lymans rear peep sight with a marbles front sight. It completely and exactly covers the bull at 100 yards. Shoots 2". I will have this one for the rest of my days. I didn't know what I bought when I bought it.
