hi-res

I love the theme of this poster! Excellent idea. I like that the picture is not arty but rather just looks like the reality of an older gentleman taking a walk. Don't get me wrong; I really do love your work that has a more arty feel to it, I just think this feel really works for this poster.

I once encountered an older gentleman who promptly removed a small handgun from his back pocket, put it on the table for all to see, and stated "I'm to old to fight or run."

I always thought that was awesome.

Oleg,
I like.

That model has been there, done that and has forgotten more than many will ever know about reality, war, street savvy, history, firearms and staying safe.

He also gets all the damn attention from the young good looking waitress.
I think I'll try bringing my own iced tea and brown bag sammich next time.
*grin*

I like this picture because it shows that older or even middle aged people might not always have the strength that they USED to have due to an accident or another reason. Some people may never have had 'strength' as a younger male or female.

Been there - done that on some of my former STRENGTH even though I still swim, walk and hike... plus being a smaller lady and 58 years old now... I don't do 'karate' but I can DEFEND myself with my firearm!

Thanks for the picture!

Catherine

Thanks for this. At 38 years old, 6'2" and 270# I am not the first pick of most criminals- but I will be some day.

Nice ones, Oleg.

Tiny nitpick: in the first poster, the second sentence is split between the two photographs. Did you want the words "Firearms shift the balance..." etc. to be located entirely on the lower photograph of that pair? I would.

{Edited to add: No, I wouldn't. I just got it: the line between the pictures is a fulcrum! Yeah, I'm slow.}

I think that your post title for Post #4 is right: gunnies will fill in the words to read, "My karate is weak, but my Gun-fu is strong." Probably too much of a Gun Forum "inside joke" to use in contact with non-gun-geeks, but it's fun to see.

For the wider public, it's a great poster just as you've worded it. That face quietly says,
Posterman said:
I've got the measure of you, lad. You're going to behave yourself here, aren't you? That's what I thought.
- except he's more eloquent and succinct than I am.

Oleg, I might change "most" to "many" as it's a bit more flattering to the elderly. I can imagine my grandmother with a group of her friends taking exception to the idea that most of them are slow and weak.

I'd also change "law abiding" to "innocent." I think that's an important distinction.

Nice poster! I agree with the "many". It reads well. Nothing offensive. Just smooth and true. You do beautiful work.

Great work

This is my favorite so far. The idea that a peaceful, easy going gentleman (how the model looks to me) would carry a firearm for protection is powerful and breaks down a lot barriers.

Wonderful!

I never was strong, fast, or able to fight and middle-age has stripped away the illusions of my youth. I'm vulnerable now and I will be more vulnerable later.

How about a version with a female model too? Over half my Basic Pistol class was women over 60 and there was a woman in her upper 50's in my conceal carry class.

It's been a while since I've read the Scriptures, but I seem to remember, "A stern demeanor and a 1911 turneth away wrath".

I think its in Hezekiah somewhere.

Respectfully disagree...

Ilbob--
I think its in Hezekiah somewhere.
Nope, it's in John. As in Browning. Just like "God created man. Colt made them equal." is in Samuel. :D

ETA: And "Speak softly, but carry a big stick." is in Theodore.

Oleg--I, too, like the poster.
