Are you a hoarder of ammo, or do you go buy it when you need it?

"hoarding"? You need to add some more zeros to your poll numbers.

I think you are going to find that your poll max of 1000+ is pretty low for some of us...

Before this week I just bought as I consumed. But, given the uncertain political climate, I bought 1,000 rounds each for my primary handgun and rifle this week. Will likely add a few thousand more rifle ammo over the next couple months.

Currently, my ammo cabinet looks something like this, give or take 50 rounds here 'n there.

.38 Special - 300-400 rounds Georgia Arms reloads
9x19 - 350 rounds, Blazer Brass/WWB
12 Ga. - 50 rounds, assorted Buck & Slugs
.22LR - 10,000 rounds, assorted brands

And I'm running low on .22LR...

I'm not able to do nearly as much "hoarding" as I once was, but I'm sure glad that I did so much of it when I could!

I keep a few rounds handy like say 500 or so but I always have plenty of brass and powder and various bullets for the ability to have .........more.

The only ammo I keep a lot of is 7.62x39 for the AK. I have about 1500 rounds in stash. Besides that, about 400 of 9mm, 12 ga about 200 rounds, .22lr at about 1200, and .32acp at about 200.

Since the AK would likely be used the most in a SHTF situation, I keep plenty of those. .22lr is my next in line since the round is so diverse and it is easy to carry lots of rounds for it. The rest are just supplementary weapons that don't require much.

Hmmm, to include rimfires or not?

I have about 1500 rounds of .22LR because there was a good sale, and each brick was cheaper than a box of 50 .38 spl cartridges.

I keep about 500 each of .38 spl and .45 acp on hand, and about 50 rounds of each in hollowpoint defensive rounds.

I thought about increasing the options. I was naive.

I reload and have the potential to have on hand more then the thousand rounds I already have. I probably have enough components on hand to load another 5 thousand rounds of various calibres...I know people that can load or keep on hand as much as ten times what I have...

Hardly any, maybe 50 rounds coming back from a range trip. Buy on the way to the range and that's it.

I have many thousands of cases for several calibers, working on getting them filled up and stashed.

I handload most of my ammo but I will buy ammo when I see a good deal out there. Overall I estimate(since I have not taken inventory in some time) that I have ~2500 rounds of all the calibers I shoot. I think I need more>:D

I keep several hundred rounds of 00 buck and slugs on hand for 12 ga. Couple thousand birdshot/field loads.

I've got 3-400 rounds of loaded .45ACP ammo (some factory JHP, some FMJ reloads) and the components to load a thousand or so more.

I've probably got 200-300 in .357/.38 right now.

I'm down to just a few mags worth of .380.

Couple thousand .22LR

100 or so .30-06 with components for a couple more.

40-50 rounds of .243 (need to stock up).

100 rounds or so of 5.56 (just got my AR a few weeks ago and need to stock up).

That about sums it up.

i have a lot of ammo on hand all the time, for al my guns, but that has nothing to do with zombies or shtf scenarios and such. i shoot and shoot alot and like to have alot of ammo on hand when i need it.

If I drop to only 1,000 for a gun, it means I'm out. No more shooting until I get more. Kinda like that money that's in the checking, but doesn't show on the ledger. That is a 1,000/gun minimum not 1,000/caliber.

With some guns(like my 444 marlin, or my 30-30)I'll never have more than 1500 rounds on hand. Other guns(like my ar15's and ak47s) if I'm under 10,000 I'm not really happy. With 22 rimfire, it's more by a ways.

I'm one of those that fit right in the middle. More on hand than most, but the ones that do keep more than I do around, keep A LOT more.
