In the last year I have bought and reloaded a bunch more than I have shot. That puts me near or around that 5000 round mark. I am not at home to count, but that is the guess.

I have over 5,000 rounds of 9mm and around 800 rounds of .45. That is more than I normally have but there was this online bargain...

I subscribe to the old addage of "Buy it cheap and stack it deep." You get a hell of a discount from manufacturers like Black Hills if you buy by the pallet.

I've been working away from home for a while, so I couldn't say for sure.

What I used to consider ideal back when ammo was cheap and always in stock was:
800 rounds/handgun
1k rounds/semi-auto rifle
100 rounds/hunting arm (shotgun and rifle)

Since then I've upped the totals that I like to have on hand. Reasons are thus:
-I don't believe in the zombie invasion, but I do believe in scarcity and price hikes.
-Finding myself with a free afternoon and just enough time to go plinking, the last thing I want to do is have to go to the store, hope it's in stock, wait on the employee to show up and open the case, etc etc. Same goes for any competitions that come up; if a buddy calls and says there's a match the next morning, I want to be able to grab and go rather than spend my Friday night cruising around town hoping to find an open gun store with the ammo I need.

I have 2 .50 Cal Ammo cans full of 9mm plus 300 rounds of Hornady Critical Defense. So I am guessing 2001-3000. Really depends on how much is in each ammo can.

I also have about 500 rounds for my 442. But that is a backup gun so I don't count it.

The real question is how much ammo do you stock for calibers you dont own?

Ouch! Busted...:uhoh:

I actually have a few boxes of commersh for calibers I don't own. To be fair, I DID buy the .44 Magnum because a friend owns one and lets me shoot it occasionally.

10,000+ .22lr
10,000+ .22wmr (My personal favorite)
3,500 9mm
3,500 38 spec/ 357 mag/ 32 H&R mag
500 30-06
3,500 223/5.56
I do not roll my own, that wastes valuable range time!

Enough that I can grab any pistol I want and I won't run out any time soon.

I have more than I will probably ever need, seeing as I hardly shoot anymore due to medical reasons.

I have two full 5,000 round cases of .22 LR, plus several 550-round cartons. I have about 5,000 each .45 ACP handloads and the same .38 Special, and lesser amounts of .357 mag, .45 Colt, .22 WMR, .22 Hornet, 6.5X55, 7mm Rem, .30-30, .30 Krag, .30-06, .303 Brit and .35 Brown-Whelen.
