It is nothing but marketing hype.

My observation is that anything "Tactical" means the price is bumped up at least another $200...

they are just trying to make it sound cool so people will buy it and they do.

everything is "tactical" these days. they even have "tactical" bbq aprons in acu pattern!

Sometimes, the word 'tactical' refers to the addition of a light rail or threaded barrel.

Usually, it just means that the gun is black.

If your guns don't say Tactical on them, you're not cool!

Like they say, it's not how good you are, it's how good you look!

It's supposed to mean it's setup for a SWAT member or FBI or ATF officer doing a raid.

But it's all a bunch of hooey.

Basically, the larger pistols, with the longest barrels, will come 2 ways, match or competition and tactical.

match means it has really good sights and a special trigger for accuracy and possibly a mag well for faster reloads.

Tactical means it has an accessory rail for a flashlight and usually night sites. And it's usually all black.

Tactical means they are too big for reasonable carry but it would be my choice for a known combat situation. Longer barrels mean a bit more punch and a lot more accuracy.

Tactical equates to so many reasons:

- a "NEW" gun (although it was there for a couple of years prior)
- an uber black colored gun
- installed with fixed night sights
- rails for attaching doodads
- more pricey because of the engraving "TACTICAL"

Regular = $ 3.99 a gallon
PLus = $ 4.19 a gallon
Premium = $ 4.39 a gallon

Then there's the camo pumps
with special contoured levers
Tactical Regular = $ 4.99 a gallon
Tactical Plus = $ 5.19 a gallon

As others have said, "tactical" is just a word manufacturers add to a product to make it seem more impressive than it really is.

Its great way to boost sales to mall ninjas.
