Hoppe's Elite is not M-Pro7

I would doubt they would say they are the same thing even if they were.

YEP! Sure does.

Didn't know hoppe's elite was non-toxic / non-hazardous (Hey isn't that another "6 of one, half dozen of the other" ??)

That is why I got M-pro7. Though I dont know that they are talking about when they say additional lube.....M-pro7 takes everything off.

The best advice I got about that product was to where gloves when you use it or it will suck all the oils out of your skin. Its true too.

I oil my gun up good after I clean it.

Might have to try the hoppes E just to see what it does.

I liked M-Pro enough to order a gallon of the stuff from Midway USA, despite the expense. ($70!)

One property that really makes it worth the extra expense to me is the lack of nasty vapors- having asthma, using strong ammonia products or even petrol based cleaners can really be a problem for me.

Although I usually use gloves, when I forget to do so I have not had any problems with M-Pro on my skin. Also a good thing.

Finally, the lack of smell I think could be a real advantage for hunting rifles.

Back to the original question, I've used both M-Pro and Hoppes Elite, and cannot tell any difference in usage, however, it's very possible the M-Pro has a bit of extra cleaner, oil, or something else. Also possible it doesn't. In use, I couldn't tell the difference.

And yes, you need to lube it good after cleaning to avoid problems. But I do that anyway.

I recently called the Ruger service department about cleaning solvents. The man I spoke with said that they use M Pro 7 on everything, and that it is so safe you could brush your teeth with it. I too have COPD and cannot be around chemicals. I have read a lot about Hoppes Elite, and hear that it is the same as M pro 7.
So will continue using them.

I have a little 'boxed set' of M7-pro products. Its good stuff. It has the main cleaning fluid in a spray bottle, a solution for removing copper buildups and some M7 brand lubricating oil.

It also came with patches, copper brushes, a 'toothbrush' and some other stuff. They seems to make very good products.
