Recent gun show in NW Indiana. Someone is handling (I believe) an M-1 or M-14. Pulls the trigger and the gun fires. Fortunately, it was pointed towards the ceiling.

Dealer was immediately permanently ejected. He rightfully argued that this was the second day of the show and the gun had been handled many times. Someone thought it was a joke to put a live round in.

And guys wonder why I get cranky when getting swept. I really get tired of seeing the "Four Rules", but there is a reason they exist.

The one that is lacking to me is "always clear the action before handling a firearm".

I so dislike gun shows and refuse to go to any more. Its been a long time coming due to lack of gun related dealers ammo ang in general lack in variety of guns. I have grown tired of beef jerkey bbq sause and nazi crap.

I would never have thought any one would drop a live round in a gun at a gun show and walk off unnoticed, but it is possible. Getting swept is just part of the gun show and in light of this new possibility its just not worth my time.

The 4 rules........its just an excuse to start ongoing arguements on internet forums. For example this one I saw here on THR.

Gun has a problem with a jam of some sort. Points gun in"safe direction" Continues trying to clear gun then bang. Bullet hits dirt no big deal gun is now clear. Some less than savory member claims you broke the 4 rules. How? Well you didnt really want to shoot the dirt did you? And I see it happen often enough to remember it.

Agreed that is why I teach my nieces and nephews the 5 rules.

How about a BATFE agent? Would they ever do anything so heinous? :scrutiny: How about one of the Brady Bunch?

Agenda is a great motive. I'll leave it at that.
