Jamaican Military?

I just did a tour down south and they were using M-16's of various types. They have others, but that was the general issue as of 12 months ago.

your thinking of Puerto Rico. and even then they have the Puerto Rico National Guard

Jamaican Defense page on wiki has a picture of a guy with an FAL and a guy with what looks like a pistol gripped mini 14
 
The Bermuda Regiment uses Mini-14s. The only military in the world that uses the Mini AFAIK.

As for Jamaica looks like FALs to me.

Neat link. The entire unit we were training with had M-16 A2 and A3. I did not even see that on the list. I even gave them a few mags because they were short. Maybe a new procurement or a present from Uncle Sam....
 
i thought the bermuda military didn't have guns at all.

i'm not kidding. i know someone there. they have mandatory military service for citizens, but you can get out of it by doing ambulance corps or firefighter duty. i asked why on earth he would rather do either of those things than get quality firearms training, and he said they don't have guns.

i guess that's a good reason.

apparently they're like the peace corps, they just deploy to disaster areas and help with relief etc.
 
Because Jamaican military hasn't really needed to fight any wars, their firearms are principally left-over from British colonial days. No real reason to upgrade.
