I just bought a Sig P230 SL (in mint condition) from a coworker, so I need to start looking a carrying options. Pocket, IWB, OWB? I'm a cc noob, so suggestions are welcome. BTW, the 230 will be keeping it's big brother (P239) company, and both will probably be in the rotation. :D

I'm fond of my Galco Fletch. I also think the Mitch Rosen Premier is a good OWB. A Galco Executive if you want a shoulder holster.

I carry a P 232 (almost the same gun) in a Ken Null SMZ shoulder holster. This is what I use for my "business suit" carry method, although it could work with anything as long as your outfit includes a jacket or some other kind of cover garment.

This system holds the gun in an unusual "upside down" position, but it actually works very well and is comfortable to carry and easy to draw (once you get the hang of the strange "twisting motion" draw). I also like this set up from a retention standpoint, because it is unlikely anyone trying to grab your gun is going to already know the "twisting motion" trick.

If you are like me, you will probably find there is no one perfect way to carry that is going to work in every situation. You will probably need a couple-few different ways to choose from, depending on what you are wearing, what you will be doing, etc.

This site is actually targeted to women's CCW choices, but other than a few obvious female-only issues, most of the info is relevant to men and women both: http://corneredcat.com/Holster/howhide.aspx

Holster wise, I probably use my Galco Executive the most. Otherwise, it gets stuck in a pocket or my waistband.

I also on occasion use a Galco Ankle Glove, or a Kramer Confidant undershirt holster with two P230's in it, or a Smart Carry.

Heres the Executive under a sweatshirt.....

Confidant with P230 and a 1911 in it. I used to carry a Commander and a double reload in it, but the two P230's are more comfortable.

Front Cross-draw

...

When I owned one, before I sold it and replaced it with a SA EMP 1911 SAO 9+1 9mm, I carried it the same way as the EMP, either front, 11 o:clock heavy-canted cross-draw, or front left pocket cross-draw.

Theory: gun sees what I see, no unknown printing from the side or rear by others
