I'm a big fan of letting my money speak for me, so I try to support firearm friendly companies by purchasing their products. Likewise, I also try to avoid unnessesarily spending money on products produced by anti-2A establishments.

From an investment perspective, can anyone reccommend any companies that are firearm friendly that would be financially wise to invest in?

Where can I find a list of Ticker Symbols for firearm manufacturers? I tried searching and could only find the symbol for Sturm Ruger. I don't want to invest any money with them. What about companies such as Kimber or Springfield Armory? I would appreciate some help as my previous research is proving to be inneffective. Where could I research this information without having to comb over each individual company's web-site trying to find a needle in a haystack? Thanks.

I used to own stock in Ruger and it was fun to get the annual report. I think a lot of the smaller firearms companies are privately held and the larger ones are subsidiaries of holding corp's. Doesn't Cerberus own a chunk? Anyway, I think Ruger and Smith & Wesson are the only ones traded in the US.

SWHC = Smith and Wesson Holding Corporation.

OLN = Olin Corporation (manufacturer of Winchester ammo, among other things).

Alliant Tech Systems or ATK: Owns and operates the Lake City plant in Independence, MO, which I believe makes all small arms ammunition for the US military. They also own Thiokol propulsion and a host of other defense and aerospace related enterprises.

I might consider going short on some companies that rely heavily on the civilian "evil rifle" market. I guess it depends on how politics go.

Cerberus does own a chunk of Bushmaster and DPMS I believe. Cerberus, however, is a private equity firm, so its not publicly traded (and hemmoraging from their plays on Chrysler & GMAC so not so attractive even if you could).

There are very few stand-alone publicly traded firearms companies. Ruger and S&W are the main ones. If you've studied the stock price of S&W you wouldn't be encouraged to invest in them that's for sure. Almost all firearms manufacturers are small cogs in a much larger company or are privately owned. For example, Cerberus Capital Management owns Remington, Bushmaster, DPMS, Marlin, and H&R.
