We're 11 days into the gun panic-anyone PLANNING to add to it?

Are you going to ADD to the current gun run?

Fortunately it's # 3 for me. I have more guns than brains. Enough to last another lifetime (or Two). I was done buying before this issue came up.
I'm trying to learn to enjoy what I have.

If you want something- wait for a few weeks or months. Panics tend to blow over quickly.

...... "what, the sky is still there?... well I'll be da**ed."

.......Right...You're not holding your breath, are you??? :uhoh:

I voted no only because EBRs are the only choice.

I'm keeping my eyes open for another pistol I like, because the local shops (which generally scalp on them anyway) have overlooked them in the rush.

But it's not urgent right now, after 'accurizing' my old one. :D

No-have enough and all my guns are just for plinking etc.

It still surprises me that so many people waited for the election, in order to realize that a threat to future acquisitions was possible.
Many people put fuel in the car before it gets too far below a quarter of a tank, if a credit card or cash is available.

At a gun show here days after the election, prices for Saigas, AKs, SKS or MNs appeared to be about the same as they were two/three months ago. A number seemed to be in less than excellent condition (except for those Saigas in space-age plastic) and a bit over-priced.
Two experienced buddies with trained eyes found decent deals there on a Russian SKS and Finnish MN-right when the doors opened on Saturday.
Maybe only AR-15s are perceived as the true endangered species nationwide?

Im making a list Im checking it twice, seeing who has been naughty or nice. And those that are selling a AR 6920 for 2k or a WASR for $900 I'll remember them......
Keep in mind that dealer cost from what few distributors have Colt 6920s has jumped more than $400 over the last two weeks. It's not the dealers' fault that some consumers sat on their rears and waited; and many of those consumers are now willing to pat $2,000 for a 6920. If you don't like the price don't buy now. Dealers didn't create the demand - consumers did. If you can't understand, or don't like, free market economics don't worry: The President and Congress Elect will be in office shortly and they'll provide you with the socialist price controls you long for.

Isn't he sworn in jan 24th or something? meaning he isn't president until 2009? Not to sure how american politics work but if this is the case I wouldn't worry about anything until then

Are we "adding" to the "panic" or to the increased sales?

Trying to think what I'd get that I don't already have.

I am planning on adding, but perhaps not in the context of this discussion.
The timing of my purchases has more to do with personal circumstance, and awkward timing than some deep rooted fear.
Although, The thought has crossed my mind to pick up a few evil black rifles in semi-auto 5.56 - just in case some sort of ban does slip through and drive up prices. That's more an investment outlook than "panic" though.

I don't think there's going to be any ban any time soon. However, I realize that's just my opinion - and certainly if people feel otherwise, they should do what they feel is in their own best interest. Personally - i'm gonna hold out a bit, see how things play over the next several months - and go from there.

I think where we're at now, is the people who have the capability to buy, are doing so. That's causing a temporary spike in prices, that I think come late-dec, early-jan - we'll see going back down. I'm trying to figure out how to time to the market to best make the most out of my money. I hate to be one to play on fears, but I figure - If our nightmares are true, and there's a new ban - I can at least make some money in the process. If this ban talk turns out to be a bust, well - hey - i just might end up with a fun new toy. :D
For me, timing is everything though.

I bought a couple of mags for my MK-II 22/45, but that's about it.
I may buy a couple of Walther P99 mags because my agency is thinking about adding an armed division and I would not want to get sandbagged if the law changes. That's what I would carry.

I've been being a good 'one gun a month' guy. As in, at least one gun a month without exception.

This kind of panic is making me switch my priorities around though. Just focusing on milsurp and old shotguns at the moment. I'm interested to see what they'll say on the increase in gun sales for the month of November. I mean, October had a 15% increase.

Months and months ago when all this started, back in February, I decided it was time to buy the rest of the silencers and NFA items on my want list. Worth it. :D

Im still adding and making more gunners any way I can. Im still adding because there are still guns I want. I only started buying 2 years ago (2 years ago this coming saturday, birthday party???) and there several guns I still want. None of them are "ban endangered" just high quality rifles wtih high quality pirce tage.

gun craze

i got mine before the election, last time when the awb passed i was slow to act so i didn't wait till after the 4th of nov. the rifle i purchased went up $500 (approx) 4 days after the election. i hope after the initial surge in sales that things may settle down a little. so prices might return to something close to normal. who would of thought that gun sales might be the new economic stimulus package!

as of right now the 33 people that voted I have plenty of guns are lying, you know you can never have too many:D

I didn't vote but I guess I will be adding to it, but I would be adding to my collection at the same pace no matter who was elected. Still want another lever gun, a smaller ccw piece, a 1911, M1 Garand, build another EBR, trade up on my XD from 4" to 5".

As soon as I get more money and find some nice guns I want. Spent bunch on magazines and ammo this month...

I have made a few purchases, including one complete AR lower, but mostly I am just making sure I have all the full capacity magazines I could ever want. Also have bought a few thousand rounds of ammo to sock away. They caught me in 1994, they won't do it again.:barf:

Caesar 2001:
Maybe some of us lied. Just a second SKS would be really nice, one day.
They cost less than AKs.

My only real focus for months, except for a second MN 44 in late August, has been on ammo.
Glad I did not wait for the election, which has always been held in November. Obama's rock-star status did not happen overnight, or did it?

By the way...my wife doesn't know a MN from an SKS:), or from a Mini .
