To our valued consumers and distributors,

As some of you may already know, a recent negative review of the GSG-5 carbine and our company American Tactical Imports surfaced online. Although we are not at liberty to publish the name or web address of the person responsible for this review, we would like to take this opportunity to rebut the untrue and defamatory accusations about our company and our product and address any concerns you may have concerning these issues.

We here at American Tactical Imports understand that with the high demand for the GSG-5 carbine, product availability has been stretched. We assure you that this has nothing to do with any lack of expertise on our part in the importing or distribution of our product. Our dedicated staff works long hours to ensure that the firearms are distributed immediately upon receiving shipments from Germany, often turning them around and sending them out to distributors the same day we receive them. As for the number of firearms shipped to the country, many of you are already aware that we have recently begun receiving 40 foot containers of product, doubling the amount of firearms we are importing in an attempt to keep up with consumer demand for these fun and excellent weapons.

We also understand that there have been many issues raised by our customers surrounding the customer service and repair department for the GSG-5. We do have an on staff and full time gunsmith who was trained in Germany at German Sport Guns to service the GSG-5 who has been fielding all calls and issues that come in to ATI. We are also aware that many of you have been in direct contact with German Sport Guns for your repair issues, and have read that the service was exemplary and satisfied all of your questions concerning repair of your firearm. Both American Tactical Imports and German Sport Guns have listened to consumer feedback and are using that to help improve our products – a good example of this is the issue surrounding the rear sights and the buttstocks for the GSG-5, both issues that were brought to light by the consumers and have now been addressed in the design of the latest GSG-5 models.

There have also been false accusations placed that American Tactical Imports is requiring “dealers” to purchase additional firearms in order to receive their GSG-5 and GSG-5P firearms. This is wildly false. American Tactical Imports, as many of you already know, does not sell to dealers or individuals at all. The GSG-5 is purchased by distributors who in turn sell them down to the dealer level. Any sales terms about additional firearm purchases with the GSG-5 are up to the distributors, not to American Tactical Imports. It is unacceptable to hold us (American Tactical Imports) accountable for distributor sales terms as that is completely out of our hands.

The bottom line is this – both American Tactical Imports and the GSG-5 are still relatively newcomers in the firearms market. We are extremely pleased with how well received our product has been and appreciate the overwhelming support and enthusiasm that has been shown for it. With your continued support we will keep growing and improving both our company and our product line.

Saw one of these, and thought they looked pretty cool. With the price of other caliber ammo going through the roof, .22 lr makes mag dumps in this gun affordable.

Still, being limited to only .22 makes this little more than a range toy (in my opinion - others may disagree... and be right). Also, the dealer told me that "lots of AirSoft accessories fit on these". For some reason, that fact just didn't warm my heart. So, I passed on buying one.

Best of luck to the company. I hope they get their issues - if they exist - straightened out.

So, anyone know for sure who's telling the truth here?
hey, dont kill the messenger. i only stated i found that statement on a website and reposted it on here. if the OP wasn't true i hope that the rest of you that have read this thread wont give up on this weapon. i love mine and think everyone should own one.

Thanks for sharing pgeleven,

I'm more inclined to believe now that the report by the OP may not be verifiable. Also if you go to this link...http://www.onpointsupply.com/cart.php?page=gsg_5_22lr_mp5_clone you will see that there is no mention of the GSG-5 problems stated by the OP. However on the day this thread was started the entire report made by the OP was on there, now its gone:scrutiny:

I would like to see more evidence than just the OP word that all the problems he talked about are verifiable. I'm not ready to give up on the GSG quite yet I don't think, I need more evidence now.

Translation: "Yes, we've had some QC issues, but the allegations of forcing dealers or distributors to buy other guns to get one of these is bogus; this is a term which certain distributors are adding; not us as the importer."

I like mine

I got mine sometime in February and have put a few k rounds down the pipe and have had no problems. It is a ton of fun to plink with.

It sounds like there is nothing to this story if ATI is telling the truth.

Lots of airsoft accessories will fit on any high end AR,HK,you name it as well.

if you look at the quality of airsoft products out there, theyre horrifyingly more real looking every year. these airsoft companies are priding themselves by getting weapons as close to spec as possible, with somewhat identical weight, features and accessories. i think its a great thing they are doing this by putting more competitive pricing on aftermarket items that may be almost or as durable as the high priced item. example: 40mm.com has a vertical grip for the M203 grenade launcher. once our troops in te desert found out everyone rushed to the internet to try and order one until they saw the $240+ price tag on the cheapest product (with military discount). i understand supply and demand but that was the big killer on interest for the grip. trust me, theres a big difference between drawing your weapon up for a long time, and drawing your weapon up with a grenade launcher attaches for a long time. its not even comfortable after 60 seconds. its the same type of foregrip used on every other rail system, but it locked onto the 203 tube. if only an airsoft product had been on the market back then with a cheaper price tag, it would have sold by the truckload, IMHO. it could have been more cheaply made, but since it was an external part, if it broke off during a firefight, the performance of the launcher was not hindered at all.

so as for my ending for this rambling, +1 for airsoft products. helping my $500 semi-auto plinker turn heads for many years to come

Up untill recently I worked for a company that was a distributor. Not dealer, Distributor.
While the number of GSG-5s we were supposed to get was cut back at the last minute, there was no requirement that we purchase additional firearms to receive the GSG-5.

Now I know a good number of Distributors had this requirement. But this was not at the order of ATI at all.

I wondered how that cracked piece was made? If it is sintered metal (powder stuff), that's understandable. As an alternative, investment casting would be strong enough and cheaper than milling that part.

Hmmm......hopefully that part is the exception rather than the norm. No problems with mine, but it has only about 500 rounds through it. I will refrain from commenting on the OP or the "equal time" posts until more research is done.

Wow, I had one and ended up trading it for an old Cobray SA M-11 at the last gunshow. After seeing what I suspected would happen come to be I'm feeling a bit better about that trade.

I was really dissapointed with it after I figured out that I paid 540 bucks for an airsoft rifle with cheap .22 guts in it. :(

Save your money, get an M621 kit, some BDM magazines, and have fun.
