Ajax Ivorex grips I hand fitted and sanded down... not sure if the cracks were due to solvent or stress, appearing in several places. Looked really pretty and I liked the buttery feel of them, and they do yellow with age if you sand the shine off them. Might re-use these if I get another Vaquero in 44 magnum--might look great on a 5.5 inch blue and casehardened gun.

Later replaced with Ajax bufflao horn.

Ajax "Gunfighter" buffalo horn grips are almost 1/4 thinner and make the smaller grip of the old model vaquero fit my hand much better. TOUGH as hell too.

Bought these Cocobolo grips long ago at 300 Gunsmith. No idea who the maker was but I really do love them. A few nicks here and there over the years, but still solid.

Dr. Rob - those are very nice! I don't think I've ever seen a set of wood finger grooved grips for the Ruger .22 that wasn't a full blown target type setup. Cool, thanks for posting them up!

Here's the latest set of mammoth tooth grips. The tooth slabs are set in Afzelia Xylay. I like em. :p

A different look for Amboyna Burl - no real eyes, but tons of curly figure on a ray cut. This wood has so many different looks that are possible! Then you add the Maidou variety and it all starts again. Great stuff.

Camel bone over Afzelia Xylay. The camel bone is tough as nails and has a nice creamy color to it that has a little variation. Kinda unique.

A GI bringback nickel plated Mauser made P09 with stocks made of plexiglass from a downed aircraft.

Now THAT is unique! :what:

Beautiful grips, XavierBreath, and that 27 is gorgeous in it's own way. It looks like it could tell a fascinating story or two!

I love my Houge grips on my Hi Power. This gun has seen many, many years of use and people still offer to buy it off me any time I go to the range.

Antique ivory micarta

These grips are quite plain compared to most of the ones pictured in this thread, but they're starting to grow on me.

I just my Trausch grips for my 28-2. Not the prettiest in the world but they feel good and soak up the modest recoil....

This is my CZ 52, I bought it with these grips, it needs a bit of work on the right side, but the swell really helps.

The photo doesn't do justice to the well handled wood on the old NM Colt. They are the origonals from 1967, and have developed a charecter all their own.
