Does anybody know of this company's policy towards firearms? Specifically do they contribute $$ to anti-gun organizations? Do they have a stated position that is verifiable?

I recall reading somewhere that they have given money to anti-gun organizations...Do a google search, i'm sure you'll find it somewhere.

They give money to an anti-gun organization called PAX.

After repeated letters they continue to stand by gun control because they say it is an issue important for young people.

I buy my Wranglers at Walmart for $11.99

Levi's is deeply entrenched in the gun control scene and has been for several years.

See below:

Dear Mr. Salcedo:

For several years, Levi Strauss & Co. has focused on empowering
youth to make social change on issues they care about, therefore we
do still support PAX. A leading concern among youth is the increase
in gun violence, which is responsible for killing more American
children than all natural causes combined (11 children every day).

We hope to take a leadership position on this issue by supporting
PAX, a non-profit anti-violence organization, dedicated to the vision
of a society free of gun violence. Levi Strauss & Co. supports
PAX's goal to bring all Americans together to support common sense
solutions to the gun violence epidemic.

If you'd like more information about the PAX organization, please
visit their web site at www.paxusa.org.

Thank you again for sharing your views with us. If you need to
contact us again, please write back or call us at 1-800-USA-LEVI or
email us at [email protected] for further information. We are
available to assist you Monday through Friday from 5am - 8pm
Pacific Time, and on Saturday and Sunday from 7am - 5pm Pacific
Time.

Sincerely,

Vallory

FYI, Levi's is also in the process of closing the last production facility they own on American soil. Once completed, they will have shipped 100% of their jobs, except high paid executive staff, overseas and to Mexico.

Levi's deserves only our disdain and contempt.

IIRC they gave either a $125,000 or $250,000 grant to PAX (known for the ask campaign), their largest contribution.

Well I just looked and it says 2002 grant list. Last I checked back in 2002 it must have been the 2001 or 2000 list and the number was pretty high, I guess they dump a lot of money into PAX every year.

Get yourself a pair of Royal Robbins...any clothing line that is sold at a gun store and says 'tactical' on it can't be anti-gun :D

They give money to anti gun organizations. Buy your jeans at the Gap.
Of course they pay large sums of money to liberal entertainers for their ads ... who in turn give money to anti-gun groups too.

Although in looking at their corporate page http://www.gapinc.com/social_resp/giving.htm , it seems that the major charities they support are Boys & Girls Clubs of America and Lorraine Monroe Leadership Institute ... neither of which appears to be overtly anti-gun.

But The Gap is also based in San Francisco ... so you know they have plenty of nuts in their granola.

Face it, its impossible to live life without some of the money you spend going to the enemy ... you just have to counter it with support for the good guys too.

Wranglers are my everyday jeans.

But, if you want to go tactical, another good option is Blackie Collins' Toters:

They're more expensive, but

(1) They come with pockets designed to carry,
(2) They're American made,
(3) Terrific construction. When I hang the legs together of most jeans to put on a hanger, the seams don't line up without a lot of "persuasion". With Toters, they fall into place.

From their label, "Toters front and rear pockets are lined with Cordura Plus so that the naturally soft cotton denim fabric of the jeans will not wear through from carrying a handgun or other object such as a knife. The front pockets have a patent pending adjustment system and a full size inner compartment in place of the ordinary watch pocket."

Everyone should have at least one pair.

I believe Dockers are made by Levis, too; check the label before you buy.

Levi Strauss & Co. only recently closed its last jeans manufacturing plant in the United States. All its clothing is now made outside the USA where labor is cheaper.

Doesn't look to me like Strauss is doing much for this country.

Amazing isn't it-- Levi's used to be the big US thing all over the world -- now not even made here -- --

And that's not all --

They're embroilled in a tax scam aftyer firing two top tax dept. people for trying to encourage them to follow the code--
Lawsuits all around --:what:

Don't mean to burst anyone's bubble, but I think Wrangler Jeans is anti also

Care to elaborate?

I searched VF's (owner of wrangler brand) financials and could find no declaration of support or donation to anti-gun causes.

Some 20 yrs ago or so I bought the whole darn box of Levi boot cut in my size. I have no idea how many, but it was huge box. I've never been a shopper, and really became tired of my size not in stock. So I told the young sales lady, if a box comes in, call me and you get the commission.

So the Levis I wear are that old, just been breaking out a pair as need. Kinda like buying old smith's, quality ain't there, nor the commitment to 2A.

Now not sure of politics, haven't found an anti stance, but the Eddie Baur folks make a boot cut, and a bunch cheaper. I haven't tried them, but the ones from LL bean, are nice, and again cheaper than the levi. Plus I can call LL Bean and have delivered to my door, no malls, no parking hassels...great for a non-shopper like me.

hey levi, twas me and others that sent that pkg of levi denimn that time...ya know the ones with "holes" in them...testing loads ...you guys failed the buckshot test btw...:neener:

I have owned one pair of Levi jeans. The 501 button fly. I will never buy, nor put another pair of Levi's on my body. The fit was very bad. It's Wrangler's for me.

I would not wear Levi's even if they did fit good because of their politics. And even if they supported gun rights, I would not support them because of their stand on homosexuality.

wrangler moved thier plants to mexico too. laid off 400 oklahomans in the prosess. i say let them sell'em to mexicans. saddlebum

Good.

I like to buy Tommy jeans too, but lately I've been stopping at a VF outlet store in Carrolton, KY when headed back South and picking up a 6 month to a year's supply of Lee and Wranglers.

I also like Nautica shirts, so as long as VF isn't anti, I'm okay.
