Had my falling out with Levis about 20 years ago when they pulled funding for Boy Scouts over the gay issue. If a Scout leader showed up at a meeting with Levis on he was severely reprimanded.
30 Decades? You haven't worn them for a long, long time.
I grew up in Levi's and continued to wear them as an adult. They built a plant about 18 or so miles south of me and made them there for years. All at once they closed the plant throwing a lot of people out of work and moved production overseas along with a big price increase. I ceased to buy Levi's and switched to Wrangler slims and that's what I have worn to this day and will continue to wear. The cheapest place to buy them I've found is at, you guessed it, Walmart.
Levi's is just a brand. The profit maximizing corporation may have started in the US, but Levi off shored its manufacturing long ago. As an example, Kenya is one of a number of duty free African countries.
African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) Kenya qualifies for duty free access until 2025 to the U.S. market under the African Growth and Opportunity Act. Some of Kenya's major products that qualify for export under AGOA include textiles, apparels, and handicrafts.
If you look at the pictures in the attached article, you see lots of Levi jeans being made. And the label says San Francisco, and you think that means "made in the USA". It does not. So, Levi's uses dirt cheap Kenyan labor to make jeans, and pays the workers maybe a dollar a week, then exports these jeans same as “American made”, and you buy them. And with the profits they make, the owners of Levi are trying to disarm you.
And no one sees anything outrageous in any of this?
I for one try to research my options whenever this type of thing comes up and go with the company that is the least damaging to the 2A. It is getting harder to sort these things out as of late due to the world becoming more critical of certain ideals. And yes the good companies tend to have products that cost a fair amount more. YMMV
