I've watched what I could find of the M1 Garand training videos, which I think are great. I've also read through the M16 Basic Rifle Marksmenship training manual.

Does anyone know of modern version of the videos? It looks like the training is still identical (just with the newer rifle).

Also, the video I linked is only Parts 2, 3, 4, 5, 6; it's missing Part 1, and I think 7 and 8 (at least the instructor's board has 8 items, which we don't see all uncovered). Does anyone know if the complete version is available?

BTW, I'm aware that Appleseed is performing this training in its original form (mentor/instructor training), do they have videos? I hope to attend, just have to make time for it.

Oh, a quick note: Even though the videos that I linked can be found for sale for ~$40, these are not pirated videos. Government works are generally not eligible for copyright protection, because we the people are the owners. This means they are free to distribute. I would expect a modern version from the DoD to fall under the same rules.

Just wanted to assuage any worries before we start talking about, and hopefully linking to, training videos.

Appleseed does not have videos. At $70 for the course (Free for women and children under 21), a family can attend pretty cheaply.

Appleseed is non-profit, all volunteer.

Here is a link with some good info, may help you out some. http://appleseedshoot.blogspot.com/

Spoke with a friend that went through army basic about 10 years ago. He said he never saw any videos, but what he described exactly matched the FM 3-22 manual that I linked.

I'm guessing the videos were a one-time thing, to support the drafting and lack of experienced trainers.

That said, hopefully someone is aware of the missing parts and can share what they know about them.
