General Consensious on American Eagle Ammo

Works fine for me.

i've never used their .30, but i've used their 9mm, .38 spec., .357 mag., .45 acp, and .223 with good results.

Isn't this Federal's "bargain" brand?

It is Federals bulk bargain brand.
I have used federal with great success, can't speak for all calibers though...

Their 9mm ammo routinely fails to eject in my Hi-Point 995. After speaking to Hi-Point about this, they said to avoid American Eagle and S&B for their carbines because apparently the casings of those two brands are very slightly longer than other 9mm casings.

I think the consensus is that American is very conscientious.

It shoots well for practice ammo. It is also what I use for subsonic, 147gr
9mm, suppressed. My HK usp9sd eats it up.

Never used any of their ammo because WWB or Blazer is always cheaper and has always been great. not a .30 shooter though either.

I've shot it for a while through my various 9mm and friends 9mm, Sig 2022, 24/7, XD and even a friends Baby Desert Eagle last weekend.

I've never had an issue with their ammo and Dicks Sporting goods usually have a nice price on it.

I've got a bunch of their .30 Carbine. It's pretty good stuff. It's the only .30 Carbine I've used other than Prvi Partisan. Accurate enough out of my A/O Carbine.

I also have quite a bit of their 9x18 Makarov...it's bout all I can find around here at the moment. The Mak loves it.

I inherited about 200 rounds with my 1943 .30 M1 Carbine and I have shot most of it. Though I have had a number of malfunctions, I can't say I can attribute it to the ammo.
For my needs and purposes, it is affordable ammo and a source of reloading brass.

It's fine - shot a bunch of it in both rifle and pistol chamberings and it all worked well.

The 223 rifle brass isn't the best for reloading; the primer pockets loosen up after a few loadings. Other than that, I have no quarrel with it.

The .38 Special ammo I recently bopught and shot was extremely dirty compared to UMC or WWB ammo. It also had a strong odor upon firing. Possibly high sulpher content in the powder? I don't know, but it shot great. For the right price (nowadays to even find it around here), I'd buy it again. But given an option at the same price, I might choose door number 2 or 3.

I've used the 9mm without incident in a Walther P5, but can't say that it's my favorite brand to buy. Of course, these days, ANY brand that you can find is a good one.

I've sent many thousands of rounds of American Eagle downrange, in both .45ACP and .308. It is my "first choice" in practice ammo. I routinely pay $1 or more per box more for it than Blazer or WWB. I've been told by several people that know a lot more about ammo than I do that if I were to carry hardball in my .45 American Eagle is the best "major brand" choice. It's POI out of my XD45C is exactly the same a standard velocity HSTs too.

Well, if I wasn't so lazy right now, I would get up and check out the sizing but this sounds like a Hi-Point issue, not an American Eagle one. It's kind of like Raven Arms telling someone to use a different ammo manufacturer.

In 223, the AR likes it better than the Savage--but it's still about last choice for discount ammo vice performance.

In 308, so-so for me, but acceptable.

Never really used that much in the handguns, always could get (in the beforetimes) WWB or similar for cheaper. The 380 has been good in my Government Model, though. NOt as goodas the S&B, but I've not seen any of that in a great while, too.

I've shot some in 9mm and .45 Auto, never a problem. It costs more than WWB at Wal-Mart.

It always seems to go bang.

I don't buy practice ammunition any more, but when I did, it did what I needed.

Only fired handgun ammo thru a XD & a S&P, works fine.

I use it as my .380 and .45 AUTO practice ammo and haven't had any problems.
