Today, met a proud father and his son who's a Marine scheduled to ship out to Afghanistan. I let the Marine and his friend shoot my K-31. The Marine had a real nice M-1 Garand.

God bless all our young men and women in harm's way now or going there.

Had to check your thread out! I'm on vacation this week and plan to get one range trip in...or else!

I'll take my K31 and one or two other rifles. They all need a field trip. :D

Good for you sharing your nice K31 with those men!

I picked up a K31 recently...she's a beauty! I'm going to finally get to shoot it this Sunday along with a few other toys.

I own two K31s. In cleaning and touching up the finish on both, I discovered a plastic tag under the buttplate of one of them--the name of the last Swiss soldier to field that rifle.
Shot one in the local Springfield match and was able to visit the 9 and 10 rings with regularity. Picked up a front sight tool from Sarco. The tool's value has since trebled.

My dad had one of these as his primary deer rifle. The stock was cut down and sporterized so it had no historical value, but it was a nice shooting gun.

He gave it to me when he gave up deer hunting about 25 years ago and I sold it since I had 3 other guns I used for deer. He's been gone for 2 years now and I sure wish I had kept it for the memories it held,

At least I kept his shotgun.

Bud,

I'm sure that your father would be so happy that you have great memories about him - the rifle is only wood and steel. Sounds like a great guy.

You k-31 guys need to shoot in the postal match at the top of rifle country. Maybe you can outdo my 9mm carbine.
