No lacing stitching holds up better I am gonna stitch this thing up with black unless you want a different color. (thanks for the kind words on my work.

Both my boys have grown up around guns and both respect them as tools and enjoy shooting. My oldest boy now 19 likes modern stuff more and my younger now 18 like the bp stuff. But both can handle either very well. My younger fell in love with my .50 inline so he might get it for his birthday in March if he is lucky.

Blacks good with me. Had my Walker out yesterday working on them and my youngest was right there ;)

The bridle I made for Roberta's horse is "stitched" with a saddle stitch. It looks like a machine stitch on both sides of the leather, but will not unravel if a stitch is cut. It is sewn with two needles.

On the reins I made for her have both "stitching" (to hold the hardware on) and is "laced" with a "Mexican Round" type pattern. The "laced" portion is more decorative, gives more "grip" for your hands, and is done with leather lacing. The stitches are done with a waxed saddle stitching thread. The lacing on the reins runs for 4' along each side of the reins... and for each foot of laced rein, it requires 9' of lacing to do it. LOTS of hours worth of tedious work. I made the bridle for her birthday last fall and the reins for her for Christmas this last year. I stamped the same design on each and used the same concho rivets to adorn each.

LOL That IS a moldy oldy !!

Thanks Ratdog
But its easy when you really enjoy doing it.
And I always use a saddle stitch I dont want my rigs falling apart.
LOL I did up a clutch purse for a buddy's wife a while back... did a "tri-weave" stamping design in it. I misaligned my pattern right at the front's top flap just as I was getting close to finishing the stamping. LOL So... I learned how to do a snake skin inlay on it and cut out the mistake, grafted in the snake skin and finished it off. Fixing my mistake made for a nicer product than what I was originally shooting for. The piece of snake skin was already dyed red with black patterning... so... since the tri-weave basket design closely resembles reptile scales... I dyed it red and did an antiqued finish on the rest of the leather. It ended up being a good recovery.
