Well, I've been saving for my first Auto, a 45acp S&W 1911, but lately between all the good posts on Walkers and the talk of imported goods going up in price, I've decided to get the Walker I've wanted for a few years now.
I have an Uberti 3rd model Dragoon ( Thunder Ridge ) and an Uberti 1849 pocket ( Cabelas ).
I'm not sure where I should buy my Walker from. Many sellers have it around $400, but I'll be limiting it to $350. All importers seem to have differences in fit and finish, wood figure and color case hardening. I'm leaning towards ordering mine from Taylor's. Anyone order from them? Any suggestions?

S&S Firearms has the Uberti 1847 Walker for $312. I bought mine from them last fall - took two weeks for delivery, which they told me in advance. The box had a Taylor's label on it. Very satisfied. Mom & Pop operation in NY state, good people, good reputation.

I have read people on here that think highly of Taylors. I don't know the first thing about them.
That Uberti Colt 1849 Pocket .31 with the four inch barrel is a fine little piece. It's pulled my ass out of a couple or three situations over the last several years or so.
Cabela's sell's the Uberti Walker for $399.99 without the starter kit. Other places may sell it cheaper.
If you like, go to the thread named 'Offical Walker Club'. Either on the last page or next to the last page you will see a short post of mine with a pretty fair picture of my Walker together with a picture of one of my K-Bar knives. That is the appearance of the Uberti Walker that Cabela's sells....

Saw a video on YouTube showing a good ol boy with two Walkers. His plan was to empty the guns in a smooth kinda western way. The shooting was soured by him having to re set the loading leavers 4 times. Kinda took the smooth out of it. I got an idea how to fix that, now all I've got to do is figure out how to make it.

How was the coloring and grip figure on the Taylor's Walker? My Dragoon came from Thunder Ridge and has a great grip with nice figure.

I have an Uberti and i tell you its nice the finish and the grips are really nice. Take a look at the WALKER thread. You will see a whole bunch of different WALKERS.

It's a Uberti - I don't think Taylor's has any influence on fit/finish except perhaps to reject bad ones. It's quite good, although not quite up to Colt 2nd Generation standards.

Taylors is the importer for Uberti guns ..alot of the companys that sell Uberti`s cheaper are accually drop shipping them from Taylors . I found this out while waiting on a Uberti remington , everyone was out of them and waiting on the Taylors order to get through customs ..I could have saved a few bucks ordering from someone else ..but I went through Taylors , because I figured if I had a problem with it , I`d rather send it back to Taylors then have someone else do the same as a middle man .

Does Taylors stamp the Walker with their name? My SAA is stamped. Just wondering. I'll be ordering one today if I hear back from Thunder Ridge and Taylors. I asked them about picking one with figured grip, not sure if they'll do that or not. Some really like the straight grain, but I like anything but that.

Just ordered my Walker! That's one gun closer to my long term goal of the whole Uberti colt lineup! ( I can dream can't I ? )
Taylor's lists the Walker @ $350, but when I called they said it was $370! They did agree to hand pick one with a figured wood grip and good color, so if they come through with that, it's worth the price. It seems the Walker's price is going up everywhere, probably due to the worthless US dollar lately. S&S emailed back and is awaiting a shipment, they said prices will likely change. Most retailers are out of stock anyway!
I'll post pics when it comes in, do you guys with Uberti Walkers fine tune anything? I will most likely file the catch and if the hammer spring is too tight I may grind it a little like I did with my 3rd model Dragoon.

The wedge may be kind of tight. Some people use brass, some people use hard plastic, etc.
I'vd got a couple of wedge removing tools I got from Cabela's but I actually use a small 2 inch piece of a 2x4. Carry a few of them with my gear all of the time. I just set it against the wedge and tap on it lightly with my Leatherman Super Tool or whatever. The soft pine wood will not mar the bluing....
It's not only the dollar. Walker's are becoming increasingly popular. They are literally flying out of stores everywhere in this country....

Well, two years ago when I ordered an Uberti Walker for my friend, it was under $300!! So, they sure are climbing. The places I found with good prices are out of stock anyway! All in all, $370 isn't bad for a nice Walker and Taylor's seems to have a good rep. They were helpful on the phone and told me they'd hand pick one as close to what I wanted as they could find.
My Dragoon wedge was tight too, I used a dremel to fine tune it and I can pop it out easy enough now. It's nice to pop the wedge by hand if you have extra loaded cylinders ready to go.

Yeah, I'vd got several cylinders but they are all still new in the greasy wrapping paper they came in. So far I haven't gotten past the one that came in the piece.
Taylor's will probably pick you out a nice one. I'vd read good thing's on here about them from time to time.
Anyway, I'm glad to hear you got one....

Well I know you already ordered it but Dixie has them for $340.

And my favorite little Indiana Civil War Sutler, Fall Creek Sutlers has them listed for $329.95. That's where I got mine some time ago. Very super nice people to do business with. I've sent them LOTS of money, LOL. But they have always been super good to me so I like to throw business their way when I can.
