Prvi Partizan .30-06 safe for use in M1 Garand?

The 163 FPS difference is telling me it would not be a good idea for use in a Garand.
Prvi Partizan rated muzzle velocity 2903 FPS.
M2 Ball spec rated muzzle velocity 2740 FPS.

Do not use it without a adjustable gas screw

I was at the range last week and a guy next to was shooting golden bear 30-06 in his garand. He did not seem to have any cycling issues that I observed. I went to the golden bear website and see that their ammo is 145gr/2850fps. I dont have a dog in this fight, but are the long term problems that could arise from shooting this stuff in a garand?

Many use improper ammo and brag how they have never had any problems.
Firing ammo that isnt suited for the Garand can bend Op Rods or worse crack the reciever heel
The Garand has a very strong action but excessive gasses from improper ammo cycles the gas system at higher rates than it was designed for slamming the Op Rod back at higher speeds which also hammers the bolt into the reciever possibly causing damage
Metal fatigue is accumalative and doesnt happen overnight.
These rifles have had years of use and who knows how much stress has already been put on them. Damage could happen in the first shot fired or hundreds or thousands of rds later

Velocity isnt the big factor here. The problem is commercial ammo has a slow buring pwder, the Grand system requires a faster burning powder

You have several options:
Use good quality surplus M2Ball ammo
Hornady and Federal both make Garand specific loads (very pricey)

Install a adjustable gas screw and you can use commercial ammo of choice without worry of damage

I have a Garand and I am going to use only M2 ball or ammunition that is loaded to be suitable for the Garand by myself. I have a lot invested in the old girl and I am going to take care of her.

This guy was using HXP 69. I have fired Greek, and it is one of the hotter service rifle cartridges, but mild compared to commercial.

Another good reason to replace the Op Rod spring in your Garand as this is what cushions the bolt from slamming into the reciever heel. Even though the spring may look OK it could be weak. They are very cheap insurance

Federal also has M2 spec ammo.

I hope you stocked up on Prvi Partizan ammo, won't be seeing much for awhile due to the factory blowing up four days ago.

I've tested those 150gr FMJ ammo with a RCBS ammomaster chronograph in my M1917 first (it's 650mm barrel is 60mm longer than the M1: velocity should lose some ft/sec in the GARAND). Result: 2820ft/sec => 80 ft/sec slower that anounced on the PRVI website into 610mm barrel: curious, isn't it,?
Tried 16 PRVI rounds into my M1 and the average velocity was about 2630 ft/sec => not too hot for a M1...
Did they change their powder or the charge?
Anyway I'd like to know where to buy this SCHUSTER adjustable gas plug knowing that it has to be sent to... France!
