First was a my Dad's Remington 572 Fieldmaster. Dad still keeps the chipmunks and squirrels away from his bird feeder with it after many years.

renegade1alpha, the brown version is known as the Mohawk brown:)

My 1st firearms fired, can't remember which order, on same day were a 6" S&W 686, a 4" ss full lug Ruger GP100, a Beretta 92fs and a S&W 9mm, think it was a 639 or maybe a 659.

I remember being 5 or 6 yrs old, when my uncle (who was about to leave for Desert Storm) took me out to the backyard so I could fire my aunt's little silver Beretta. It was a .25 auto, and I still have a few shells for it lying around somewhere.

I'm a little surprised by the number of people who first fired a pistol rather than rifle or shotgun. Also a lot of people who fired three or more guns on their first day.

I was about 24-25 at the time. I help an older couple move from my street to out into the county. When they held their house warming party we got to play with a few toys. The first gun I shot was a Savage Single Shot .22. I was a confirmed Hopolphile from then on.

Can't remember which one first, could be my grandpa's little Winchester single shot .22, or my dad's 20-ga Fox Sterlingworth, or my uncle's 16-ga LC Smith field grade (my bird gun to this day).

Well, I only fired one shot (with my uncles hands securely wrapped around mine.)

When he returned from the war, he took us out to fire his old German Mauser, and taught us the basics.

BB gun (rifle). First grown up gun was a Winchester 20 ga. single shot shotgun. I was 12 years old and that was over 50 years ago.

A friend's .22 bolt action rifle, back when I was about 8 or so. I have no idea what make or model it was.

I'm actually not at all sure... I was quite young, and it's probably a good 25 years ago or so. I think maybe it was a bolt action .22, possibly a marlin.

I have far more memory of the Marlin 25N .22 bolt action that I was given at somewhere around age 12, but it wasn't the first. Wish I still had that one though.

ps. my apoligies for all the info but this thread has me reminiscing (thx by the way)
Apologies? Whatever for?

My first shooting experience was with a single shot bolt-action .22 rifle at 4-H camp when I was 9.

My first handgun shot was with a neighbor's Luger P08 when I was somewhere around 12.

1911 colt, a rented one from one of the local ranges.

The range master said "you picked a complicated gun." "You will need my help." In an arrogant voice.

150 rounds later Didnt need help and walked away with fairly decent groups.

I cant remember...

I'd fired some .22 pistols and rifles, as well as a single shot 20 gauge, but it was a buddy's Mini 14 (well, his dad's) that got me into shooting. It was that same afternoon I switched from my right shoulder to my left, and realized I was cross-dominate.

"Try shooting left handed."
"Think it'll help?"
"Well, it cant hurt..."

I was around 12 years old. Cant remember his dad's name, or his for that matter, but I've been shooting rifles wrong-handed ever since.
