Best tactical and hunting rifle combo?

M-1: can't beat a 30-06 for a do-it-all cartridge. Just throw in a Schuster adjustable gas plug if you're going to shoot commercial loads.

If not that, an AR with an extra upper in a large bore caliber; 6.8 or something like that.

Bolt action 308. Match grade factory ammo available, surplus cheap ammo available, hand loads can get you competition level accuracy in the right gun. Also, much accurizing can be done to a bolt action yourself. Glass bedding, trigger tuning/replacement etc. Bolt actions actually come out same weight, maybe even lighter with a heavy barrel than the Ar-10 platforms. and the AR-10's lose 100+ fps to a bolt action, everything else (ammo, PSI) being equal.

Lastly, there isn't much that the 308 can't do and do well.

EXACTLY like that Boba!

I recently bought the Marlin SDT but I haven't got it (rigged) out yet.

I am thinking maybe an older Weaver 2.5 or maybe the newer v-3 for sighting.

What, and where to come by that sling yours is wearing if you would?

Remington 700 or winchester 70 synthetic in .308, or an fn fal (or wichever semi automatic .308 you like best like m1a, ptr 91, ect.)

No idea. Not my rifle. Just a pic I came across on the net.

It looks like a Vickers sling with a front and back adapter.

Or this, I have not used it in the "tactical" mode, but I have been successful deer hunting with it. I guess it would meet the "tactical" requirements.

My Marlin XS7 in .308(cause I have lots of reloading components) and my Marlin 336 in 30-30(cause I have lots of reloading etc). Lots powder, primers, bullets plus cast bullet hardware. Just my .02 cents worth.

7.62x39 rifle (SKS, AK, Mini-30, 7.62x39 AR, VZ58, take your pick), or a M1A, FN-FAL, or maybe a G3/PTR91. Last one can be iffy due to damage to brass as it kicks it out if you plan to reload.
