Just bought some sort of surplus 7.62x39 ammo, that is a dull green. (Not virdigris, but some sort of paint/coat).
Comes in green cardboard boxes of 20, containing two clips each of 10.

Now I have not seen the ammo as yet, and wont until next week. Wont be home until the 27th.

Now according to the wife, there are no markings what so ever, including a headstamp. Not sure what to make of it.

The seller states it is S&B surplus, bedran primed so not reloadable. Wasnt a bad price fro around here, about 160 Euro's for 1200 rounds shipped.

Most of the 7.62x39mm surplus I've encountered carries a manufacter code plus the last 2 digits of year manufactured on the headstamp.
If it is ex-military surplus, for example, how can anyone know of the age the ammo without the year stamp?

The S&B above is great ammo. Boxer primed and very clean, plus the brass is excellent. I have a bunch of it, and use it to reload.

This stuff supposedly has no markings. Which even I find stange, but the wife says there are no markings. The ammo and her are in France, while I am in the UK currently... so cant verify until saturday.

Newer Czech 7.62x39mm has a grey case color, but the older manufacture has a more greenish color to it. Their headstamp markings tend to be small and fine, which when combined with the older type lacquer coating can be hard to see. Are the primers blackened or brass in color? The packaging sounds like Czech. There are unheadstamped cartridges out there, but they usually do not turn up in case quantities. How about a pic of the box and cartridges?
The 10 rd. chargers should be marked on the back with a "bxn" that should be easy to see.
