Here in RI, if I read them right, the laws exempt colleges and universities from the prohibition against carrying at schools.
Is this true of any other state?

In Georgia, you can carry only when picking up/dropping off a student at any school, including colleges and universities, as long as you have a GFL. Teachers and school personnel can have a weapon in a locked compartment/rack in their vehicle on school property.

In Alabama, only K-12 schools are restricted, and then only when "knowingly with intent to do bodily harm ". Code of Alabama Section 13A-11-72

Colleges and universities are not addressed. All of them that I'm aware of have a "no-guns" policy.

AL Folks Can Carry In K-12 Schools

I have a friend that lives in Alabama and he said that he can carry in a K-12 school with his pistol license.

I researched it and it appears he is correct.

Premises of a public school. The term "public school" as used in this section applies only to a school
composed of grades K-12 and shall include a school bus used for grades K-12
(c) Subject to the exceptions provided by Section 13A-11-74, no person shall knowingly with intent to do
bodily harm carry or possess a deadly weapon on the premises of a public school.
(d) Possession of a deadly weapon with the intent to do bodily harm on the premises of a public school in
violation of subsection (c) of this section is a Class C felony.
(e) Law enforcement officers are exempt from this section, and persons with pistol permits issued pursuant to
Section 13A-11-75,
are exempt from the provisions of subsection (c) of this section.

Section 13A-11-75 Permits are the licenses folks in Alabama get from their county sheriffs to carry pistols concealed. I hope that information helps. I know when I visit down there I can carry on University property with my TN handgun carry permit even though it may be against some 'policy'.

Rhode Island,

Take a look at www.handgunlaw.us.........I see nothing on there keeping you from carrying on a K-12 school with your license. It just says you can't be under the influence of alcohol or drugs. You might want to dig a little deeper on your state's laws and see. Your laws actually might be pretty good and it could be legal for you to carry in all K-12 schools and colleges in Rhode Island with a license. I wouldn't call the police and ask though....they'll just say no! If in doubt call a lawyer you may know.

I think in Michigan, schools and colleges you can carry as long as you're driving through/dropping someone off. You just can't go into a building.
