Govt Contracting 101--

#1 "Offerors must have an acceptable cost accounting system as determined by the Defense Contract Management Agency or Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCMA/DCAA). Proof of this will be required at the time of proposal submission."

#2 "Offerors must also have a property management system that is in compliance with the contractual requirements as determined by the Defense Contract Management Agency."

The contracting officer already knows who they want.

Seems like a waste. If memory serves me right, the original RFQ said that it had to shoot less than lethal, not cycle it. Id be willing to bet less than lethal (applied use) is less than 5% of the actual loads used in action.

JR, both of those are boiler plate for .mil contracts.

A company has to demonstrate that they have an acceptable methiod of storing the government supplied weapons, as determined by a DCMA inspection, and all companies dealing with the government have to abide by the GAAP, because the % profit is regulated.

We talked with the MARSYSCOM reps at SHOT Show this year. They do know exactly what they want. The issue is that it does not exsist. The USMC is currently using two shotguns the M-1014 and the Mossberg 500/590 too fill all of their requirements. I think we are going to take a stab at providing A solution, but I'm not sure if it will meet all of their requirements. Time will tell.

The best answer to all their requirements is to retire the M-1014's, but that's a WHOLE differant topic of discussion.

Shotguns are used for breeching. The pump-gun is king here.
Shotguns are also issued to MP's. The M4S90 is an awesome weapon here.

I fail to see the issue.

This seems like a silly waste, but then again, even though I'm a fan of semiautos for serious use I've never been overly impressed by the M4.

They're nice guns and all but IMO a purpose built combat shotgun should be box mag fed, have a shorter standard length barrel and be capable of taking a folding stock.

I wouldn't be too too surprised if this "can't cycle LTL" issue is just an excuse for allowing for a redesign in other areas.

My issued M1014 would cycle steel shot beanbags, but not rubber batons. Maybe an improved selection of ammo is in order.
