The title pretty much says it all. I have a Del-Ton 16" Carbine kit assembled on a DPMS lower. Functions perfectly well. Properly lubed, using handloaded LC brass with 25.0gr AA2230, and Rem 55gr FMJ. No issues cycling. But if I don't keep my eye on the trigger pin, it'll work itself out and hang up the trigger. This happens if I repeatedly cycle the action manually as well. Any ideas? Might I have inserted this in the wrong direction? I read the direction didn't matter. Any known fixes for this? Thanks!

1911 tuner is probably right on the money. Ensure that the hammer spring legs sit ontop of the trigger pin. There is a groove on one side of the trigger pin that the hammer spring leg sits in. Also, I believe the groove side of the trigger pin should be on the left side.

An interesting side effect of that pin walking out on the left side is the rifle will fire once when the trigger is pulled, and again when it's released. Sort of a poor man's 2-round burst device.

Probably highly illegal, though. Don't do it.

Actually, the ATF has stated this is not illegal because they define a machine gun as a weapon that fires more than one shot per simple action of the trigger, and that pull and release are two separate actions. There are a few commercial kits on the market for guns such as the Mini-14 that do this. Of course, it's very dangerous because, once you pull the trigger, you are committed to taking that second shot. While it may be legal, it's inherently unsafe.

Also if left "un-fixed" it tends to wear the pin holes out. Takes quite a few cases of ammo to get that far though... :D

Which has led to a recent fascination with this tacti-cool "fix".

You can try the E-clips style pins. They are about 10$.
I tried them once on a 9mm. I ended up going with KNS pins because the E clips would come off, and since the pins weren't grooved it just made my problem worse.

No no folks- it was the hammer spring legs not being seated in the trigger pin groove. Hence "Bingo". No need to offer up advice on how to jerry rig a poor man's full auto. Moderator please lock.

Interesting. I'd have thought for sure they'd make it verboten, since they seem to be so fascinated with such things. There was a static-fire device that floated around for a time that they either forbade, or tried hard to. And...didn't somebody rig up a shoestring to do the same thing that put'em in a snit just recently?

lol. Technically it wouldn't be full auto, it would be bursts if "malfunctioning perfectly". And BTW is was a Mod who mentioned it so I'm sure they are fully aware if the thread should be locked or not! :D Rookie mistake.

Just to let all ya'll know...For the record, I had no malfunctions or bursts. Trigger pin kept working itself out, I reinserted it properly and it stays put just fine. Semi-auto only...
