New twist on the Savage name for a entry level rifle at an amazing price.

check out Jeff Quinn's review; http://gunblast.com/Savage-Edge243.htm

Cool, but where is he buying his Stevens for 400 bucks? Around her they run just over 300.

You need to compare MSRP to MSRP; and real cost in the market place, they differ greatly.

Jeff Quinn is comparing against the listed MSRP of the edge and the Stevens.

the price you pay in the real market place will correspond accordingly.

Hmmm, not the prettiest thing in the world but if Savage does one thing right it's putting lead on target accurately for the money. Should be a very good buy.

How will this affect the Stevens 200 sales? I really only want to buy one or two Stevens just for the action for custom builds.

Do you think they will discontinue the Stevens rifles and just sell the Edge and 10/110?

If so, I better buy the Stevens soon.

**Oh, and bravo to Savage for building another great rifle.

I think it will be my next centerfire purchase.
In .308 please,..Optics Planet here I come.

It looks like what Winchester did with the Black Shadow rifles it was offering awhile back.

Cheapened in price and appearance. They took something good and made it not so good. Ill pass.

How is this not so good? It handles nice and shoots well under an inch, what more do you want? We all dont have a ton of money top drop on a high end rifle you know...

Crap. I have an extra scope/rings/bipod sitting in a drawer somewhere that i didnt want to put on anything, now you guys might of forced me to find that stuff a home, lol.

New Savage Edge Rifle vs. Marlin XS7

I am looking for my first deer hunting rifle of my own, in .308 Win. At this point, i want a Marlin XS7. But i also saw the new savage edge and cant help but wondering if its a good rifle or not, any ideas or thoughts on the new edge? also considered a stevens 200, but gosh, they are uglier than the edge. i plan to top whatever rifle i get with a Redfield 4-12X40

Guys just give up on the basic entry rifles, if you like savage action just buy action and get qualified gunsmith to put barrel upon it look for match quality makers in barrels like Shilen

I saw the Edge this week at the gun store- the barrel is the same as the Stevens 200, but I was not impressed with the stock and safety. The grip on the stock was really small in diameter and felt weird IMO. I love the Stevens 200 XP (below).
