Hello once again, I have a few questions about a few knives.*

My use for thus knife would be ultilitairan (mostly anything for hunting that requires a blade)*

I would love to spend no more then $100, but I understand that you get what you pay for.*

This is my first choice due to the lower price and I have always wanted a good Ka-Bar style knife.

Came accros this knife while looking over at Blackhawk! I hace had good experience with their other products so I was wondering about this knife and the one in the link below.

Ok, what drew me to this knife was that it looked like a Roman Gladius. But I do not think that I would want a double-edged knife for a ultility knife.

This knife along with the Blackhawk! listed above is at the very limit of my price range, but this knife looks like it could seriously take a beating.*

I have heard alot of good aboult this knife, but the only thing that holds me back is the blade length.

I would like to know about this knife, I think that the slimness of this knife would be a dream to carry.

Thanks for reading, I am no blade expert, so if some of these seem like stupid choices, let me know.

And it must be made in the United States of America!!*

Thanks,

From your choices, I like the NightEdge; the tool steel blade will take a sharper edge than stainless. That extra saw blade on the back looks handy, too. The LHR doesn't look too bad, but costs too much, I think.

Avoid the daggers; they're not that practical for everyday use, and if anybody sees you with it, they'll be screaming about terrorists, even if you're in the middle of nowhere. Buy 'em to hang on your wall if you have the bucks (and as emergency backup weapons).

Really, if you just want a knock-about camp/hunting knife, you can get one for a lot less than $100.

You should just write down a list of features you want, in levels, such as:

* must-have -- you won't consider a purchase without this feature

* negotiable -- you'd strongly consider buying the knife with or without some feature

Once you isolate the "must-haves," the search gets a lot quicker.

Must have- Made in USA, full tang construction, 5-6" blade, one sided blade, 10+oz. (I want a knife that feels like a tool, not a toy)

Negotiable- sheath made in USA, 1-1.5" serations at the base of the blade, false rear edge (very negotiable on this one), lifetime warrenty, lashing holes (again very negotiable).

I guess that'd be about right.

Looks like you are drawn to more "tactical" looking blades, which is fine, if that's what you need. I would go in the other direction take a look at the offerings from Bark River. $100 is tough, but there are some models which can be had in that price range that might suit your needs and then some.

One thing's for sure, they are tough knives that are made with a high level of quality and attention to detail. For a woods knife, they are just awesome! They are made for hard use in the field. In my experience, a lot of the "tactical" designs are lacking when it comes to doing some hard chores out in the woods.

Just one example that fits your budget

This is not a full tang, but it is a wide blind tang.(blind tangs aren't necessarily weak just some knives are epoxied 1 in into the handle (ie pakistani) or have a very thin rat tail tang that is not suitable for batoning) Also it is not 10 + oz. However I don't find weight as much an issue unless I was inclined to chop.(I prefer an ax otherwise I will baton if I need to)
I own this knife myself and must say I would definitely use this as a multirole knife.

mostly anything for hunting that requires a blade

None of the knives you've chosen are suitable for this purpose. Some are pure fighters while others are fighter/utility.

It might be better if you defined the things you're going to do with the knife before getting seduced by tackykewl cutlery.

I would also get a bark river personally. However bark rivers are convex ground with a convex edge. I have put a convex edge on several of my knives but if you don't know how to sharpen and maintain a convex edge I would steer clear of the bark rivers as you would have to flatten the grind out to use a beveled edge on a convex ground blade. The same goes for Fallknivens and the current manufacture Blackjacks which are made by bark river.

You want a good knife with tactical look that you can hunt with. Look at RAT Cutlery Rat-4 and Rat-5. My kitchen knife is modeled after the Rat-4 which I made in D2. It has enough belly to skin with. You wont be sorry.
