What would you buy for $800?

I have a colt series 80 stainless enhanced; my only 1911. I have carried it some, but it is really pretty & not my first choice for a CCW. I am pondering a 1911 for carry. Suggestions? I want an Ed Brown, but $800 ain't gonna get that done.

......why not another Colt Stainless Series 80? New 1991s in Stainless can be had for $800......... are reliable right outta the box, and can be customized into whatever you want later on if your preference's change.

For example, if self-defense is your #1 priority, do you have two full carry guns and rigs that are identical? Have you attended training on law, tactics, and defensive type shooting? I encourage you to attend training over buying another gun.

If sport shooting is your thing, then does your current inventory cover the sports you like to participate in? If so, just buy ammo and reloading supplies.

Use what you have.

But using what I have would mean not buying something new (-:

As for training, I am not a soldier, nor do I intend to be. I have carry guns that I practice with frequently, for every style of clothing or season. I drill for the defensive scenarios I think my habits might place me in. I know that I would benefit from more training, but frankly my gun hobby is far more about sport, plinking & collection of interesting to play with additions.

I have all my sporting ground covered; dove, deer & hog with numerous redundancies for each critter. If I m lacking anything, it is redundancy @ the SHTF catagory, hence the AK leaning.

Without a doubt I'd a get a Henry Big Boy Lever action rifle. Most likely in .357, because I've got a S&W .357 revolver and love the caliber. I've been drooling over Henry's .357 lever rifle for a long time now. Thought I was gonna get it, but random car problems took up all our saved up "fun" money.. sure wasn't very fun spending it on my crappy car :\
