Reloading ? re.Brass

One of my 2 mentors taught me how to use my RCBS full re-sizing die as a "neck sizer" only,but I can't remember if he said to lube the brass first. He's asleep right now and I want some ammo for in the morning. What I do is screw the die down until it touches the shell holder,then back it off 1 turn so the brass stays fitted to my chamber. Should I lube just to resize neck? 22-250 cal. Thanks
