My loving spouse, who recently brought home a S&W 4516 for me because "she thought I would like it", bought me an AIM Excellent Grade Yugo SKS.

After cleaning out the gobs of cosmo, I took it to the range and fired 80 round of Wolf lacquered ammo through it at 50 yds.

My eyes aren't what they used to be, but I was pleasantly surprised at the number of rounds that I put "in the black" using iron sights and with about a 15 mph crosswind.

This could easily become my favorite C&R gun. I love my MN M44, but 80 round through her at the range and I would be coming home in a cast!

So far I have gotten a Surefire G2 from my mother-in-law :) hopefully there will be more to come when Christmas gets here.

Nothing says "Holly Jolly" like ammo.

My wife's not a shooter, but she knows what I like to feed the beasties in the safe...and where to buy it...

Merry Christmas to all....

My wife bought me a Ruger 22/45 22lr. She said "maybe we can shoot
more since 22LR ammo is so cheap".

P.S. Happy birthday Jesus

Hey guys!!!!!

What the heck?? Not only do you guys get your X-mass gifts before the big day your wives actually get you cool stuff.

I guess it's time to send my wife back to the spouse training acadamey.

My gorgeous girlfriend (soon to be fiance) bought me a 1777 St. Etienne flintlock musket reproduction. It's my first blackpowder arm and I'm hoping to get into Rev-War reenacting with it in the Spring. You've gotta love the idea of a .69 ball in front of 80 grains of powder!

Vanfunk;
I happen to own an original 1777 that was converted to precussion and ended up in Confederate service. Try a charge of 110grns of single "F" powder. You'll find that the felt reciol with Fg is much nicer than with FFg.
The US service charge was 120grns "musket" powder. 10grns were to be used for priming. When the US switched over to percussion muskets, the charge was reduced to 110grns.
It should be noted that the first muskets produced at Springfield were just monkey copies of the French 1763, then later, the 1777. The use of the French pattern continued through the 1842 percussion musket. My brother has an original Harper's Ferry Mfg. 1842 and the bayonets are interchangable between his musket and mine.
If you'd like, e-mail me directly and I'll scan you some pages from "Small Arms Ammunition in United States Service" by Lewis. There is good info on cartridge making, powder chargers etc.

Dont any of you people have kids? And why do you get to open youre gifts early? All I asked for was to be able to sleep in on the big day and didnt even get that! I did buy myself a gift of 1500 rnds of Wolf ammo in various calibers.

Oh yeah, what did I get from my wife? a coat that was too small and made in China! I got some nice little gifts from the guys at the fire station though. You folks are all very lucky!

Merry X-mas

Thanks to the "War on Happiness" waged by my employer this season, we were not able to do the Xmas thing big but, had to brace for the worst---getting laid off. It was a false alarm as it turns out.

Normally, the wife gets me a really cool knife.
However, she did come thru with a bunch of 22, 9mm and 45acp ammo.
Let the party continue!:p

I opened the box to a Savage model 93R17-F and also a Savage model 64FXP. I can't wait to go shooting now. But I first need to get scope for the 17hmr. What scopes can you guys recommend to me? I have a limited budget of lets say $200. I figured you guys could help me.

OK, it's not a rifle, or even a gun, or even gun related really, but I still like it. This is what my wife got me :D
