I had been shooting prvi partizan 308 match with near MOA results, best 5 shot group was .997. I did not want to pay 30+ bucks per 20 rounds for decent match ammunition. So I started reloading and worked up 5 different loads, 10 rounds each, and headed to the range.

Here is a picture of the rifle:

Today the weather was in the 40 - 50 degree mark with 15-20 mph winds.... Not the best conditions, but I do not get much range time these days.

Now the good part...

The best load was as follows:

Hornady Match 308 Brass
168gn Hornady BTHP Moly
43.2gn Varget
Remington Primers
OAL = 2.8"

A close second

Prvi Partizan 308 Brass
168gn Hornady BTHP Moly
40.4gn Varget
Remington Primers
OAL = 2.8"

Here is the best group (5 shots) from 103 yrds according to the range finder.

Group is .73" for outside to outside
Center to Center was .42"

I am very happy with the groups. I had several groups right at .5" today but this was the best one. I also forgot my shooting bags today so I was shooting off the bipod with no rear support in high winds. I want to get out on a calm day and see if I can get the groups under .4"

I have SPS varmint (similar gun with a longer barrel) and it does the same thing. Its not picky about ammo as long as it is half way decent.

Nice rifle. I agree w/the comment about Remington barrels. Bring along a dime....

nice shooting!
maybe you should shoot w/o a bag in high wind all the time

Awesome shooting! I agree, the Remington barrels are really something. Congrats.

PS: What scope are you using?

I confirm, that's a black one.

nice shooting, glad you like the rifle!

If you deduct the horizontal stringing that might have been caused by the wind, you would be down in the .35 range! That's a pretty good day's work!

I have the 700ADL Varmint. These are vey good rifles capable of some really good out fo the box accuracy. With my handload of 42grs of RE-15 with 168gr SMK I get .59moa with the factory stock. I would like to get the barrel cut down to 22" though.

Adam500, nice shooting and thanks for the info that Privi 168gr Match ammo is shooting MOA. I'm just waiting on my Howa 1500 custom varmint to make it from CDNN to my FFL. I plan on picking up 200 rounds of Privi to break the rifle in and save the brass until I start reloading in the future.

Thanks for all the replies. The scope is a 6-18 Nikon Buckmaster, a great scope for the money. For my next build I think I am going with a Vortex Viper as they are getting great reviews and have better glass.

wnycollector that is exactly why I purchased my 168gn ppm. It shoots decent for the money... not the best, but allows you to reload the brass and it seems to be decent brass but it is a bit difficult to get some of the primers to fully seat.
