Ok, not sure what I really would call this one because "the chopper" just doesn't seem right...

I know its a lot of pics, but I can't help being excited! :D

6" blade, 10.5" OAL, Black Linen Micarta scales with 3/8" tube pins. 1/4" thick 5160

Another HUGE thank you to Jim Adams for helping me finish this one up last night!!!!

The Camp Santoku?
Not exactly the right blade shape, but I like the name in general...

The Punisher.
Too... "Marvel"...

Maybe I just call it #7 since it is technically my 7th completed knife... Or "Lucky7".

I am already thinking about making one very similar to this with a 4" drop point blade and the same style handle. I can see them being a matched pair, and I'd like to make some extras to sell to a few people that have already asked...

Think about a slight rocker to the next one (like a santoku) and you may find you'll get more chopping power if the arc is at the point of percussion for the blade.

Thanks and I am already thinking down that road... Maybe the same blade length with that slight santoku drop, and also this...

I have already had someone asking for something like this, and sent his this drawing... so far (we'll see how it goes), he has said he would actually want to buy 2 of them, and sheaths also.

Not sure who that is, but I'll go look him up... I can say 100% that this is from my own hand... Literally, I just drew it on the steel with a sharpie and cut it out...

AAahhhh.... Now I see.... :) And that is definitely a great compliment, although the Tracker is a bit extreme for my taste...

Brad,

Try your designs out for 20 minutes straight and see what sort of inspiration for revision that gives you.

Meaning, see what its cutting strengths and weakness are, and also how bad my hand hurts and see what pressure points need to be fixed?

I plan on hacking up a 2x4 tonite with all 3 of my new knives so see how the perform...

That is an awesome knife - as has been pointed out, looks very utilitarian. It's been a while since I've seen anything with a lambsfoot(more-or-less) style blade. Keep it up.

My girlfriend has been wanting a kitchen knife that is a "rocker"- enough curve to the blade to keep on the cutting board and just rock back and forth.

My former MIL petitioned me to find her such a thing, too. Just sayin'.

Thanks everybody, and Jim and J... What's next might just fit that bill pretty closely... :)

Well... I actually have 2 things I want to try...

Very nice work and nice to see a field knife sized wharncliffe. I really like the pattern, but it seems like most people that make them consider them suitable only as craft knives.

I probably won't do another full wharncliffe... I think it could have many more uses as more of a santoku or as a shorter bladed drop point... Still very utilitarian, but also more suited for actually being used...

Sheepsfoot

It seems more like a sheepsfoot -- a large, honking, really pretty and utilitarian sheepsfoot -- to my eyes.

A Wharncliffe blade sports a working point, so, for example, if you had widened the radius on that curve, the edge and spine would meet in a pointier fashion, a la Lord Wharncliffe's design.

It's a gorgeous piece in any case.

What does it weigh?
