Hi, i just found you guys and read a good article on the .41 mag,215 gr bullet. i have that bullet and have used it for years,in lawenforcement and security. i now have a 95 grain mold for the .41 mag and no data for it. could someone post something for that type of bullet? being as i am new to this forum bear with me please. the man that had the 215 grain bullet i have some new data just recived today from lyman or lee do not remember whitch. email me and i can send the data to him.

I do not think you will have any success with a 95 gr bullet in a .41. Too short, too unstable, too inaccurate. But, I wish you the best of luck, even though I cannot comprehend it happening. Seems like the laws of physics will be against it.

.41 mag

OMG i sure blue that one i meant to write 195 grs.so sworry about that i guess after an all day on the computer i giot sqerrly.

OK. I thought you might have, but you had it down twice. That threw me off. I'd just up the powder charges by 10%, and watch out for pressure signs, leading, and poor accuracy, and back off when things aren't right.

Lee makes a mould that drops a 195 grain SWC. I gave it a try, and the bullet is accurate, and I didn't get any lead fouling from it with the Lyman black magic lube. I used the same data that I use with the RCBS 210...which for 95% of my shooting is 9 grains of Unique.

I never loaded it hot with 2400, so beyond that, I can't say.

The RCBS mould drops a little better bullet overall...and it's a prettier SWC IMO, if that matters...but for 20 bucks for the Lee mould, you don't really have a lot to lose. I had to make a top punch for it, but that was a minor thing. Thge aluminum moulds aren't as durable for marathon casting sessions as an iron mould, but I managed to get about 3,000 bullets before it started giving trouble.

If it was 95 Grain, you could stack 'em...be an interesting SD round that way.

yea it would be a good sd round. i loaded some .41 with two gaschecks and bird shot between them. hell of a good snake load never had to use it as a sd rpond. also what does sd stand for?

I would recommend that you start at the starting load for the 215gr. 20gr difference in bullet weight is not much. Just start there and work up to the desired load, either most accurate of best velocity.

One caveat to this would be if you are using Win 296 or H-100. Those powders do not do well downloaded and I would be hesitant to experiment with them.

"...20gr difference in bullet weight is not much..." Yeah, it is.
"...215 gr bullet..." Cast or jacketed? Jacketed data is no good for cast bullets.
I'd start with a 200 grain load. There are a couple on Hodgdon's site using Tite-Group and Clays.
I have 199 grain cast data in my old Lyman manual if you want it. Lyman mold #41026. [email protected]

I shoot 195 gr cast swc's over 8.5 gr of AA#2. Low recoil and super accurate through my .41 mag Blackhawk.
