I just got a new mold to cast 228 gr. Bullets for my .41. My current load is 8 gr. Of Unique pushing a 215 gr cast swc. I am looking for load data for the new cast bullets I will be making. The only thing I have seen are using 2400 and seem to be real fire breathers, but I am looking for something more mild and less wild.

Barrel length would be a factor. I used 2400 with 220gr LBT WFN-GC and LFN-GC bullets. They actually weigh in somewhere just over 225gr. 17.0gr of 2400 got me around 1100fps from a 4.62" barrel. I'm not sure if that's faster than what you want. Pretty accurate as I recall.

I use a 265 gr WLNGC from Cast Performance. 13.5 grains of AAC-9 will push it to almost 1200 fps from my 6 1/2" 657-2 Classic Hunter....but you feel it.

Instead of everyone guessing, can you list the actual mold you acquired? Providing answers will be much easier with just a little bit of info.

Unique can be punchy on recoil when used as a magnum powder. You are already close to 210 bullet weight, so just try cutting back a half grain at a time, using the premise that heavier bullets use less powder. If looking for performance data, good luck. See how it shoots and maybe chronos. Mid level magnum calls for AA#7 for me.

I've shot quite a few of GT's 228 SWC bullets and found a sweet spot for my 4-5/8" BH at around 8½ to 9 grains of Unique or Ultimate Pistol. Gives about 1050 - 1100 fps.
