Belt clips Anyone ?

I like em for certain applications and they are on several of my handguns.

My experience with using a clip to attach and hold anything on your belt has shown that while it may be convenient it is a great way to lose things. I have seen so many guys that I work with lose flashlights, radios, keyrings etc. when they had them clipped on their belt and in most cases were not even aware that they had come off. I worked for years in at an airport on the ramp and every time someone lost a radio we would have to search every aircraft they were in or around and sometimes the whole airfiled to find it (guys would lose radios while screaming down a runway on a tractor and we would have to stop operations until it was found). The clip will snag on countertop and desk edges, shopping carts, seat belts, car seats, ladders. striker plates, etc. etc. etc. Dropping your keys or your light is one thing but imagine having your gun clatter to the cement while you're in someplace where people are going to freak out (like in a bank or Post Office). Buy a good belt and holster and leave the clips to the mall ninja kids. Keep your important stuff attached to your butt securely enough that if you fall it stays on you. When we talking about guns this could save your life.

I have one on my Keltec, and it's not really secure enough that I trust it on a belt. It works better for clipping the gun in your pocket. Or maybe on your belt when you're at home.

I should see how it work in the top of a cowboy boot.

To just clip it on your belt would be pretty retarded.

Those are pocket clips, imo. I like them.

I have the package [Kel-tec] that mine came in right here in my hand. It says "belt clip" four times, then once more on the outside barcode label for good measure. Never uses the word "pocket" anywhere. (doesn't mean you have to use it that way)

The Kel-Tec clips aren't as strong as the ClipDraw IMO and yes the one on my P3AT works in the pocket but the Clip Draws on my Glocks and 1911's are best on the belt IWB. I don't use them while hiking or other activities that could easily dislodge the gun but to run to the store or for when I may have to slip the gun off and on the only better thing is a paddle but that isn't IWB.

Used the factory clip on my Keltec P11 and now the Clipdraw on my Kahr K9. Works well.

And yet, you have no experience with the Clipdraw. Use one for a few years like I have and get back to us.

The tape doesn't come off unless you pull it a certain way. Only thing I have issue with is it takes up gripping surface real estate, so less purchase when you rack the slide.

I have a universal Clipdraw on my SP101. Carries great IWB at 4 o'clock.

Another +1 on keeping the trigger covered.

Gimmicks

There are a lot of cool looking gun gimmicks for sale. The clip draw attachment is one of them. PLEASE use a holster.

It is difficult for the uninitiated to evaluate the various gadgets and gizmos. One way to get a handle on them is to inquire what LE agencies either issue them or approve them for their officers. If they are not agency approved anywhere there is probably a good reason.

^I am not a proponent of the clip draw, but im not so sure about the police issuing idea

The New York State Police/NYPD had glock design the NY1 and NY2 trigger springs for guns used in situations that already have pretty bad accuracy rates

Just because PD's dont issue wheel guns anymore doesnt mean that they are not good for self defense

nothing personal, but seems like broken logic to me

I don't like them and wouldn't use one. IMO it's one (small) step above mexican carry.

NYPD is one agency. No single agency has a monopoly on knowledge. I did not suggest using or not using anything based on a single agency's policy.

However, if virtually no agency in the country approves a "wonder gadget", which is what I said, there is a good reason.

BTW revolvers are still widely approved and carried for off duty.

I think its more like mexican carry with less fear of your gun slipping through and ending up on the floor.

Or falling down in your sweatpants as you grab for it. Gunbelts and holsters were not invented to be a fashion statement. After you pick your gun up off of the concrete you will understand this.

You cookie cutter pistoleros crack me up. Many of us don't dress appropriate for a Duty Belt 24/7.
I have good heavy leather, Kydex, fanny packs, IWB, OWB, neck, pocket, and clip options available. Better to have some choices than leave it at home IMO.
Use some of the options I have and I doubt you will have one fall out of your sweats.

not funny. Been there.

I have one for my j frame.
I liked it for a while. It seemed to ride up on me if I was walking around.
As I don't stand still for very long, I took it off.
I use a JBP iwb. It works great and it don't ride up on me.
