Anyone carry the Kel-Tec PF-9 with the belt clip chamber loaded?

I don't do the PF9,..but I do quite often carry the P-11 or the P3AT, both sans holster with the belt clips. The clips do not interfere with carrying while holstered in my choice of holsters either. The P3AT in a DeSantis pocket holster,..the clip easily slides on the outside of the holster. I generally carry the P-11 in a Yaqui minimalist styled holster, OWB at 3-4 o'clock. The pistol clip actually helps anchor it in position. Hope that helps.

Some folks will chime in here soon and tell you it's unsafe. I haven't had issue,...I have carried both guns this way for years,..and I am what one might say quite active .... never had any issue in the guns moving when carried IWB with clips while wearing a good belt. The belt snugs them in nicely and holds them in position well. I have carried briefly without a belt. I do not recommend that as a steady mode of carry.

YMMV

Thanks Thunder, you are precisely the person I need to be talking with about this then. PM inbound.

Something to be aware of:
The PF-9's have a hammer block but no firing pin block.

According to Mas Ayoob, you shouldn't carry your duty pistol w/a round in the chamber unless it has a firing pin block.

Take that for what it is worth. I have never heard of anyone having an issue with an accidental discharge due to the PF-9's lack of a firing pin safety. That being said, I wouldn't want to the first to experience it either. Somebody at the Kel-Tec owners forum did an experiment with this topic.

I carry the pf9 and p11 at different times and keep the chamber empty most of the time. That is me though...all my auto pistols are carried that way. If I am surprised it is quite natural for me to pop a round in. In my opinion it is not worth the risk. If I am expecting to use the pistol it would be in my hand and loaded. That is what is so nice about the small size.

I have 4 KelTec's 3 have the clip. My wife and daughters use the clip and I do now and then. I have never saw a problem . The idea been around for ever if was so dangerous would been a law suit filed by now . I still have a set of grips for the J frame that made to slip over pants Their from early 80's and worked very well.

Considering the heavy trigger pull on the PF9, I would not worry about carrying it with one in the chamber.

You've nailed it. I wouldn't carry a Glock this way, but the PF-9 or the P-11 are uniquely suited for this carry because of their long heavy trigger. Have you ever shot a Polish P-64? Ha, on that gun you could mount a belt clip to the trigger itself and it'd be safe.

I've got both a p3at and a pf9, neither have clips but I carry 1 or the other every day in my back pocket in a pocket holster with 1 in the chamber and a full mag and have for years with no problems. The way that I look at it the best saftey is in your head not on or in the gun.

I have carried the P3At and the 9, Both with clips, for past 2 years, Just be careful when putting on pants not to hang trigger, What I like about it you can slide the P3AT
lower to completely hide it if need be. The 9s grip is only part showing with it.

I wondered if anyone ever did this. I always thought it was a great capability and ingenious design, but I'd opted for pocket carry in stead.
