I have always been interested in the handguns owned and carried by Frank Serpico. I recently came across this photo of two of his pistols, donated by him to an Italian American museum. Thought I'd share...

Cool, looks like a hi-power and little baby browning of I'm guessing .25 acp.

Since he obviously retired the Hi Power, I wonder what he carries now? I would think he still keeps something nearby...

If you read the book he mentions some revolvers. IIRC the .25 he bought when he was working a plainclothes hooker detail and he wanted the smallest gun he could get away with. He had to pull it on a hooker and she laughed and thought it was a toy until he put a round into a bed or something. The High Power was purchased after the corruption investigations started and he thought he might need a lot of rounds to defend himself.

Last I knew, Mr. Serpico had emigrated the US, and was living somewhere in Europe. Sweden? Switzerland? Probably not somewhere CCW friendly anyways...

Serpico moved back from Europe many years ago and now lives in a cabin in the woods in Dutchess County, NY. he bought the Hi-Power when his life began to be threatened. he was carrying it when he was shot. I read an interview on him a few years ago where he stated he tried to donate his service revolver to the police museum and it was refused. He now carries it daily. As for him being a nut, he was before my time (I'm retired NYPD), but the movie and book were a great exaggeration, from what I have been told (And what movie isn't?). He was ostracized due to his whacky apperance and mannerisms (this was the 60's, after all). He was a hippy in a police department that didn't even allow mustaches. I doubt he was the choir boy he was portrayed. He's still trying to profit over something that happened over 40 years ago. Sad, if you aks me. he's been divorced several times, and his kids don't even talk to him.

Looks like a 1960-1970's T or C model with an external extractor

How are you able to see the extractor in the Hi Power in the picture above?

He can't and he could be wrong just as much as he could be right....

What extractor does this one have?
